Does anybody have any ideas on what could be sprayed (or a grain to be broadcast spread) that one could put on a lawn/yard (several acres) that would not affect fish in a stocked pond below the yard. Wouldn't want it to run off and kill the fish. We plan on chickens around the barnyard but growing up on a chicken farm I can tell you that you don't want them ( or other fowl) in your yard, else you wouldn't have a yard left nor do you want to step in their by-product LOL!!!

If you can't easily do a tick check, a soapy tub bath of 15 to 20 minutes will drown any that remain submerged. Not as good as picking them off, but works.
We keep a sock full of powdered sulphur & dust shoes, ankles, shins, pantlegs, shorts legs & around the waist. Haven't had a tick since we've done this.
Can't shower immediatly b/c our land is 60 mi from our home.

The only worry we have is if the sulphur would wash downhill to the pond during a storm. We did hear about a product called EcoSmart that can be sprayed with a hose attachment and it's not supposed to bother the fish or livestock. The website says it's in Walmart, Lowe's and Home Depot stores. But we've never tried it yet, would hate to test it out and find out that it's not safe. Has anybody tried it yet?

Red Imported Fire Ants.

Have them here and the tick problem is nonexistant.

An annual fire is supposed to keep the population down.

Better living through chemistry. Spray your clothing with 100% DEET and you won't have a problem. Make sure you cover you shoes, socks and pants well. I use to live and hunt in an area where the large ticks had small ticks on them and the small ticks had chiggers and the whole bunch was being dived bombed by skeeters. And nothing else worked anywhere nears as well.

Yeah, right. Perhaps not in exactly the same spots.
But we have ticks in the treed areas and fire ants in the open areas.

Ticks

I havent found anything that works yet on the ticks, I have tried everything mentoned and also in combination ,such as 100% deet and permathon on my clothes. clothes tied at the bottoms, sulfur soap and skin so soft , sulfur powder in a sock and permathon on clothes as well as on my skin .I still use 100% deet as well as a combination of skin so soft and permathin but at the end of the day I still have them all over so until I get some guineas I havent any success yet but will keep trying,

Actually, I have great luck using herbal sprays, such as Burts Bees and Herbal Armor.
