Welcome to the U.P.! We moved here 11 1/2 years ago from SE Wisconsin. I love it here and so does DH, as he is a hunting fanatic . Hope all your dreams and plans work out for you.

Congratulations!
Once you live in the clean fresh air of the Northland, you will notice the air quality of everywhere else that you may travel.
Get yourself a good anti-varmint dog and train it well. My dogs patrol constantly and play keep away with any critter that wants to eat my garden, my livestock or me.

I am going to envy you for the next 5 months, then I'll start to pity you when the white stuff flies.

Congratulations! I remember the excitement of buying a northern dream. (Bought in a snowstorm. First visit in spring still snowing...) But rileyjo's right -- nothing like the fresh air in the north country. (We're heading north Friday -- how are the black flies anyway?)

Have fun planning!

Best Wishes to You!!!!!

That first year in the new homestead is fabulous. We are on the second summer. Hope you are as happy as we or even more so. If you have not read Sue Robishaw's book on homesteading in the northern tier, I would recommend it for a funny, fireside read.

Best of luck to you.

Interesting you should mention that book. I just found her website last nite and was thinking of trying to find that book (doubt that my library will have it). Thanks for the recommendation-guess I'll have to go ahead and order it.

I second that book

I'm now wondering if I've walked the acreage you bought?? We've been all over the Chatham area and back and absolutely loved it!!! (You know me from city-data too).

I've been offline for the past month after our recent move, Congrats on your purchase finally!! I'm so happy for you!!!
