My mom got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from ticks last year and she has really had it tough. She is just beginning to feel like herself again. So be careful of those nasty critters.

I use Frontline on my dogs as well. It works.

Ivomec works on heartworms, not fleas or ticks. Just a note for those with herding dogs or mixes. Some of them have a gene mutation that makes the use of ivomec FATAL!!

I have used liquid 7 mixed at 2x strength and sprayed around the house in a really bad year. I did not have animals outside that year.

I feed my dogs garlic to keep fleas at bay, but it does not seem to keep the ticks off them. BTW if you do use garlic...only a pinch will do ya...litterally. I mix kelp and garlic powder...3/4's kelp to 1/4 garlic powder and sprinkle on thier raw as I would season meat before cooking. Too much garlic can cause heinz anemia....a little though has the benefit of cardiovascular support as well as detering fleas and skeeters.

We also buy Frontline Plus on ebay for our dogs and use the Adams spray if needed. Last Spring about this time of year I caught Lyme Disease from a tick bite. It's not fun AT ALL so be very careful to remove any tick that bites you immediately. And don't believe that Lyme Disease is not prevalent across the U.S. because it is!

You're gonna think this is strange.

We were over run with ticks when we bought this place, 7 years ago. We picked them off every day or two. But, I am a "Bird Feeder". I feed seed eaters & wood-peckers from late October to mid-May. I feed Hummingbirds from April 1 to 1 November.85% of the Hummingbirds diet is "Bugs & Mosquitos........
We don't have "Any Ticks". We have a pond but "No Mosquitos".
I think the Birds are taking care of the Problem for us. I really do.
Well, it sounds good to me.....A side benefit!
