I have had roosters try me several times through the years. I launch them like I am punting a football.

I get more flogged by the hens that have chicks.

My nesting boxes are feed dishes that are mounted on the wall. When a hen is nesting I will lift her up to check on the eggs since I have to move her and the chicks to the ground when they hatch out.

I had one hen that was a pincher. She would grab my arm and pinch and twist. I had more bruises on my arm from that girl then all the others combined. Once she was down she would jump up in the air and try to flog me when I went to check the waterers or put out chick starter. She was pure meaneness.

The roosters seem to understand that I am the biggest rooster amd I have Black Jersey Giants and Australorps along with my game chickens.

Some of my fighting hens are real little devils when it comes time to be a mom.

Worst ass whippin I ever got was from a buck goat. A Boer that I had to fight between 15 minutes to a half hour to get out of the field through the gate. Lost a nail on the big toe, lots of scrapes and cuts, and walked with a cane for months since he wrecked my knee. That goat died from lead poisoning after I was able to limp back down to the gate from the house. He kept charging the gate then till the lead poisoning took him down.

One time we had twin roosters that were kind of a game-looking variety. One of them flogged my two-year old and left gouges in the hat she was wearing. Had the hat not been there, she would have been seriously injured.

I had a .22LR single shot, so that was my weapon of choice. It was not very accurate and it took several shots to finally hit one of them.

I then turned my attention to the other and it took even more shots to get him. He was running under vehicles and right next to buildings.

It was like they were both saying, "It was the other guy! It was the other guy!"

We invited both of them to dinner that night!

Wow, what a great thread, sounds like the roo's have left a few scars on many. Is it normal for them to be this aggressive?
