I checked out the Craigslist listings in BigRock's area. Indeed the prices people are asking for vehicles down there are way higher than they are up here. In my area there was a time when 4x4 vehicles commanded somewhat of a premium and were worth at a minimum 800 bucks regardless of mechanical condition. Now however it isn't unusual to find a running and driving 4x4 for as little as 400-500 bucks. I actually seen an add for a International Scout for 100 bucks that ran and drove. Unfortunately it was sold before I could call.

You just arent familiar with northern vehicles. That salt does a real number on them. I lived up in UP for 10 years and hope to never deal with such messes ever again. Every time you go to turn a wrench, unless the engine has been leaking oil on that spot for decades, the bolt head or fitting just crumbles.

And you must be in more remote area with few vehicles for sale at any particular time if they can get $1500 for a clunker. Down here in NW AR, you can find older trucks cheap enough. Saw a '71 Dodge 3/4 ton 4wd with a commercial hydraulic dump bed on it for like $500. Probably has some huge old engine and gets 6mpg and drum front brakes..... But it would be pure luxury compared to the northern rust buckets with frame about gone.

You Nailed it~!!! You get a cookie~
I was Hoping that somebody would catch what I said about the hitch.~!
I said the Hitch was Stronger then the Frame it was attached too~!!!
I HAD to go to a Class III hitch cause the Bumper RUSTED so badly the hitch was unsafe to pull anything with.
So I "cut out " a section of the bumper, so the Class III hitch would fit and I made sure the holes and such in the frame were Backed Up with GOOD Sized Washers~!!!!
And then there was the MPG I posted. I thought surely somebody would say something.
The reason I am STILL getting 22 MPG is because of the amount of rusted off fenders and such~!!
Heck the tail gate is so bad I have to have it fastened with a "Turn Buckle" so it will not come off the now rusted off hinges~!
BUT then IF somebody still wants to give me $1500 for have at it.
That is WHAT I PAID for it 10 Years ago~! And 60,000 miles ago.
The moral of all this is: Be causes of what is said on the internet because it just MAY come and bite you.
And NO I would NEVER take a person like that on a truck no matter who he or she is.
The crossover brackets are rusted off on one side, I have that side tied up with Wire, to keep the noise down......
But it DOES run good, that 4.3--- V6 has been a workhorse.

The easy way out is to have the "wind" blow that thing out in the road some night. Then the local government will haul it away.

What is it worth? About $200 only if you have a title.

If you sell it without a title in your name you are selling a stolen car and the previous owner can prove it. Same goes for selling it as junk.

Now if you think it is a gold mine then you may be able to get the title put into your name, for about $200.

You might get a transmission put in it for around $1,500. Then you might be able to get it sold for $1,000 or so.

How much security deposit did the deadbeat renter leave you with? I thought so. Got to love the poor people who rent.

High winds predicted on Thursday night.

Only applies to those who leave inoperable automobiles on the property that the rented.:smiley-laughing013:

If it is a full size Bronco it is worth more than $200 for parts alone.

What engine does it have?
Could have a 6 cylinder or 5.0 v8.
Transmissions varied between autos and manuals too.
The removable rear roof should be worth something to someone as well.

Believe it or not I was asked to go to an Auction today and Bid on a couple things for a Guy one of them was a '86 Ford 1/2 ton Pickup,4 WD.It had been detailed so it looked nice but I crawled up under it ,pretty rusted but not all the way through.I figured $2,500 the most for it.The Guy asked me not to Bid over $750.

It sold for Get this $5,400.

Big Rockpile, I think I might have to start a truck importing business down to your neck of the woods

A few weeks ago I bought a nice old Dodge half ton up in Fargo ND It seemed like a $500 truck to me but I needed it THAT MORNING. It saved me a $50 cab to the airport and a $200 1 day car rental maybe 2 days. It also saved me a $50 cab ride back from the airport at this end. so it seemed like a ok deal.
The guy delivered it witha full tank and helped me load my 1000 pounds of equipment then it got about 18+ mpg so Im really pleased with it.....not much rust either!
