I had always heard that you shouldn't use old seeds. I have found that it isn't always the case.
It must also be noted if a plant is F1 or not. Has been that way for many years.

Just make sure they are this years seeds. The last couple of times the 50% off was because about 1/2 the seeds would sprout.

Inasmuch as they are not allowed to sell any seeds packed for any year other than the current year, that has not been a concern to consumers for the past 5 years.

well I don't much care of the politics of it but i did love the sale..thanks for letting us know about it..i went in this afternoon and spent about $15. on seeds and got everything i still wanted plus..

even have my fall garden seeds all ready now..and my Winter greenhouse seeds, may even have a few left for spring next year..but actually i bought just what I thought i could use..rather than really hoarding..leave the rest for other gardeners is my policy..but thank you thank you thank you..i really was blessed

I also took advantage of this offer plus and I had a pro-desk coupon for ten dollars they had sent me a couple of weeks ago. I ended up with 15 ounces of O/P bean and pea seeds for 72 cents.

If you live in Michigan, be sure to read the "sell by" label or other dated stamps. Last Spring the Michigan Department of Agriculture got their budget cut, so they stopped checking the sales of out-dated seed. That was mostly ag seeds.
But within days of this news, Home Depot began shipping out-dated grass seed to their Michigan stores.
Since I've seen many people buy annual ryegrass for lawn seed, I'll bet few are checking the dates.
So watch out.

Should not be a current problem since Home Depot does not sell annual rye grass. Perennial, yes, but not annual.
