I love the peppermint feel of this soap. Being a tightwad, I bought a bottle of peppermint oil from a health food store (enough to last a lifetime) for about $6, and I add a few drops to my homemade cleaners and pump soaps. You have to be careful, because too much peppermint will tingle/burn more than you want.

If you use too much, you'll know it...

I do a drop at a time, and rub it in... why let the bath rag have all the fun.

Can remember on long backpacking trips (back when I went lightweight, and didn't believe in carrying real books) having the opportunity to read and reread all the fine print on the bottle... stuck in a tent for a few days, a few drops also makes a good deodorant.

First time I met the peppermint stuff I didn't know it was supposed to be diluted. Whoowee! Woke me right up.

I think the bigger bottles have more stuff on the label to read so they are more fun than the little bottles. I suppose there's the economic savings of a bigger bottle, but betcha some folks get them just to read the label better.

Hi Christy,
I no longer buy laundry soap, I just use the Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap and an 8oz bottle lasts months in our family. At first I mixed about 1oz per 2 gallons water and added about 3 or 4 tablespoons of borax for extra cleaning power. I would use about half a cup of this in each load of laundry. But I found that with my new washing machine (it runs water right through the detergent drawer) I can put about 1 teaspoon of borax and 2 drops of Dr. Bronner's right in the machine and I don't have to keep a bucket of 'laundry soap' around.

I started out making my own laundry soap from 1 bar of Ivory soap, water, baking soda and borax. That mixture gelled up and was a bit more difficult to stir up and use than the mixture I use now. Either way, I don't use as much plastic or cardboard since I no longer buy laundry soap, and I save money too!

I don't mix it ahead of time. I just keep the bottle in the shower, wet the wash cloth like normal, tilt the bottle and put a "dab" on the wash cloth and then wash. I mix it with my regular dial soap. I just "dab" the peppermint or lavender on the cloth, then use the bar soap like normal. If I really want the scent and coolness of the peppermint, then I use it with hands just like any liquid soap - just a bit less.

We use alot of it here.

In the shower, just a small squirt of it.

I also use it for hand soap, I have a couple of old foaming squirt hand soap pumps and fill them about a 1/4 of the way with soap and then water.

I have used them to hand wash some clothes and a few times on hand washed dishes.

They are good to take camping. The bars are ok for camping too as they wont spill and make a mess.

They do make a "special" one called "Suds" (I believe) which is meant to be used as a cleaner for household type items.

And yes... take care with the peppermint and the nether bits. If you must rinse FAST!

Peppermint to brush your teeth.
Works great when that's all you have.
The other flavors suck as for taste.

Using it to brush your teeth? That's bit far-out. I've always made jokes about accidentally using the soap instead of the paste.
