There are a lot of home invasion type robberies here in KY ... county where I live is pretty rural, largest town is 18 miles away and maybe 30,000 people? not sure ... even more robberies in counties that are closer to the larger urban areas.

Didn't used to hear about these kinds of things in Montana where I lived for many years but the last few years friends from there have mentioned several ... one in town that resulted in the death of an older man (late 80s) ... rural break-ins seem to usually be closer to the Interstate than otherwise.

We do have a large housedog, I've always had at least one for years ... since the 70s anyway. This one is a Doberman (mostly anyway) and I had Rottweilers for years. I would not be without a large guard-type dog in the house.

Those people look like inbred meth-heads. I hope they go to prison!

Yes, this is good practice. Several examples around here of people who were working out on the back forty and something happened, maybe an accident with equipment, heart troubles, or even what may seem like a simple fall, that incapacitates peoples ability to get back to the house, or worse.

Very sad story. I know the woman and she lives with her son who is retired and farms so he's around most of the time. He also has a business about 2-300 yards from the house which faces a pretty main road.
When making a post like this about about making a quick one sentence summary of what it is you're talking about rather than just the link?

Why? There is no cel coverage.

I would love to have five minutes alone with the three of them in a cell.

We have several outside dogs including 2 Pyrs. We have Barky von Schnauzer inside if anything moves outside we know it long before they could breach the house.

We also have adequate firepower within easy reach where ever we are.

Best part is in Texas we have the Castle Doctrine Law. Makes protecting home, vehicle, etc sooooooo much easier.

DH & I use walkie-talkies when he's working on the property, away from the house. We have a big outdoor dog and a fierce, little indoor dog. We're both armed.

There have been stories recently here in TX about elderly woman shooting/killing intruders. There was also a story about an elderly woman who lived in a nice neighborhood, who was murdered in her home last week. Goes to show the advantage of being armed....no matter where you live.

how very sad At 99, she likely won't recover from those broken bones. The body just doesn' heal too well after a certain time.

I've known two elderly folks who'bve been murdered. Sensless crimes. One 5 years ago right after I moved from the city, someone invaded one of my neighbors backyards and bopped the woman on the head. It wasn't a robery and she was in her 90's. Anotehr last year, one of my best friends here had her elderly mother and sister brutaly murdered....and I won't get into details but it was very devestating.

the world shouldn't be like this. It's so wrong.
