my dad is pushing 80 with a 100 acre farm and he just uses his lawn mower (had a bad leg starting to bother him on the quarter mile walk to his mailbox).

he has a collection of lawn mowers by now as the one he uses just to drive around had the mower part rust away but it still rides fine! my dad never throws away anything has probably 3 riding mowers to choose from on any given day depending on which has a flat tire, which needs a charge. the one he actually mows his 4 acre yard with is a brand new john deere.

point is, you can get riding mowers that won't mow anymore CHEAP and little trailers to pull behind them. and easy to find someone to work on them or work on them yourself.
