My dad gave me mine when I was maybe 6 years old. I could not touch it unless he was with me for years but still it was mine :-). I am 45 now and it is hanging on my gun rack right now. I have used it to teach my 3 kids how to shoot and how to respect fire arms.
In my eyes they are a great little gun. It has worked 100% of the times I have pulled the trigger.
About 15 years ago I took it into a gun shop to have it re blued and just gone over to make sure it was 100% ok. The guy sort of laughed and said it is going to cost more than it is worth to do that. I did not care as to me it is priceless.
Oh and I have the Mohawk Brown :-)

Not to hyjack the thread or anything, but I will ask if anyone has used or knows about Crickett Crickett Rifle KE221, 22 LR, 16.125", Pink Synthetic Stock, Stainless Finish.
I know it is pink and a kids .22 but I just want one for target shooting and cause I think it looks cool. My husband is about ready to go get me one, it is the first gun I have ever even wanted. Is it just a waste of time???
He said he would set up a target range at the bottom of our field, with wooden cut outs of rabbits and squirrels. I said they would probably ROT before I actually hit one!!!!

I've had mine since I was 12, my dad bought it for me. Until last year I didn't know what a nylon 66 was. I've never cleaned the barrel or action and can drive nails at 20 yards with the stock sights.

The Crickett .22 are great rifles. We got our oldest one, black syn. stock. They come in a bunch of colors. The built in lock is a great thing also!

Yup, when I was a kid I wanted one in the worst way. My cousin had one and I was jealous as.... well you know, Fortunately I couldn't afford one at the time and it wasn't until mid-life til I could get a .22 rifle. Did a little research and wrapped my hands around a Ruger 10-22. Do yourself a favor and do the same

When I was just a teen, my best friend had one. We often went hunting and plinking together..... I used my Grandfather's Winchester 77....To this day I have never found another 22 I like so well. Like a lot of things though,...It is likely the remembrance of fun and carefree days....

No gun is a waste of time. I had a 38 revolver Saturday night special really a sorry gun for what I wanted it for but one night I was out tramping through the woods and I came upon a bobcat I shot and it hit the bobcat between the eyes and killed it. I then traded it for a better one.

I have three. And considering the environment when it comes to the ATF etc you need to be careful.
Out of my three two of them will keep firing with only one pull of the trigger. Sure it isnt throwing out 100 rds a minute but it will with one pull produce multiple shots. I do not know if this is a design flaw or after thousands of rounds they just wear down to this point. I bought one new. It has had maybe 5k through it and it single fires. The two used ones were the ones with the one pull multi fire issue.

I bought one new, and trained my Son with it, and now my Grand-kids. It still works like it did when I first bought it. They are light enough that they are good for beginners to learn on. I'll keep mine for my Great-Grand-kids.

I too have thought about getting a Marlin 39A for a long time, I suppose if , er I mean when it gets too bad, I'll pick one up as a second shooter.
I have to second, or third the advice of the Ruger 10-22 crowd though.
Stainless w/bull barrel and syn stock can't be beat.
Add your choice of a fixed 4 power scope and some Butler Creek clear 25 round mags, and buy stock in federal ammo.
Of course if there is some "Other than rational" decision making going on in your desire to own the Nylon, then hey, follow that.
I don't remember for sure which rifle is generally regarded as the most mass produced (.22) but if it is not the 10-22, it would surprise me.
And as such, how could so many people be wrong ?
Also, there is everything imaginable made to modify, alter, or trick out the 10-22, should you wish to.
Who would you rather have on your side, the champion, or some not even rated fellow?
10-22's rock.
p.s. liquorlawman, a "Smart" man would immediately delete any post even remotely attracting unwanted ATF attention.
Word to the wise, ATF has NO SENSE OF HUMOR...NONE.
There is a 10 year hitch attached to what you posted about. NO-Kidding.
Please delete your post, and never speak about it again.
And you would be wise to either fix, or rid yourself of the
misbehaving guns, like toot sweet.
Serious as a heart attack on this friend.

My inquiry was not for the best .22 out there, as the Ruger 12-22 and a dozen other semi auto rimfire rifles, fit the bill nicely. I do have my Dad's Remington Sportmaster 512 bolt action, that I cherish.
I was curious on how well a semi auto "plastic" gun, held up 50 years later and whether the owner's were still happy with thier "66's". It looks like most of them are still quite pleased.
Judging from the prices collectors pay for the Nylon 66, apparently I'm not the only one pining after one.

So did you enter these two into your books as Class 3 or are they still illegal conversions?
