I'm also looking at places in missouri that have lagoons, thats for all the answers.

another question since I'm also looking at raw land: anyone know what it costs (in general) for a lagoon in missouri? thanks.

I'll admit my first reaction to a lagoon was also ewwww but my grandmother in tennessee growing up had an outhouse and I was thinking of what you saw when you looked down into the pit. plus it stunk. plus there were wasp nests. and spiders. and did I mention it stank

Costs for Lagoon

Truly, not sure how "accurate" our costs are, as we had an existing "system" with septic and simply "re-routed" from the collapsed laterals, to the new lagoon.

We paid around 1500 to 2,000 dollars for the digging of the lagoon, gravel for the base and trenching of the line from the septic to the lagoon......not sure how far away it actually is, but it was about two days of work......between the plumber and the guy with the bobcat......If I had a clue what I was doing, i am sure the digging could be done yourself if you knew how to use the bobcat....or trencher.

I don't know about Missouri or other states, but, in Kansas you can get cost-share money from the state to put in a lagoon system. You do have to put it in according to state specs, which specify size , fencing, and etc.. Check with the extension service. They may have the information.
