I wish I knew. I suspect it takes a small mountain of money and a lot more knowledge than I have.

If you have cell coverage a few ridges over you can get antentaes for cell air cards. then use one of those extenders (if you want both phone and internet coverage)

I currently use a usb port cellular modem on my computer. We get good cell coverage at our mountain top place but the dish for online was a real pain so we switched to this. it is just as fast as the dish but the speeds vary quite a bit throughout the day. I wish there were a way to improve signal strength as ours is pretty low and when i take the set up to town my speeds improve by more than 200 percent. we do have a small booster antenna but it does not do much. sisterpine

You really gotta be careful on antennas there are alot of cheapo's on the market and some are for mobile applications, some for long distances, short distances. There is a real art to choosing the best antenna, I would suggest http://www.maximumsignal.net/ try to find out where your closest tower is and call em up and explain your situation . They really know their stuff

magicjack is going to be offering this soon. it will be just a different jack than current and what I've read is price will be the same (mine was $19.95 last year, have to check if they've gone up).

cyngbaeld,

is skyway available in your area? it is a hybrid satellite and uses the phone one way and satellite the other:

what about a WISP (wireless isp). it uses a tower and dish on your end. you have to be able to see the tower (line of site) and the range is around 13 miles or so:

We are have the phone company lines run underground to our home in Georgia next month. They dig the trench, run the line and wire the house for $20.00. What a deal. We are only going to have a DSL account, no local phone service, however I was told that we will have a phone number, and can receive unlimited calls, but that all out going calls will be 10 cents a minute.
