I grow my onions from seed, because just for the 2 of us we can use 500 plus plants a year. With storage and green onions included.

Do green onions grow well from seed? (maybe that's a dumb question). Will they grow into full-sized cooking onions, also?

No I did not. The nearest town to me just happens to be across the Arkansas line. They use to have a Farmers Coop there up until 2 years ago. The Farmers Coop is where I would buy all my garden seeds from cause they were a bit cheaper in price. I've had real good luck with germination and you get a whole lot more seeds in a package. For instance, 1 package of tomatoe seeds might contain a whole ounce of seeds. Enough for this years garden and next years garden most of the time.

The Farmers Coop went out of business but a ranching family bought the business out and continued buying the good products for resale, including garden seeds from the same company. So I still get the same good quality seeds that I've relied on for 20 years or more.

Do you ever go to Little Rock? I will go on the 28 of feb and will go by the place that is a real supplier of seeds. They sell to the co-op and hardware stores. The only thing is you only buy in pound sizes not packets. But the seeds will last for at least two years if you freeze them. I buy squash, watermelon, onions by the bunch, okra, and such. I will get the name address telephone and cost for most anything they have if you want to order from them.
