Then hit the Alpaca forums to get other input. Then remember that no matter whether you sell them or not they still must eat, be cared for, get sick or injured, and need maintenance just like any living creature.
If you love them and adore having them around then ignore your mom and go for it. She can visit if she wants. Otherwise nothing can make you worse enemies with someone than a "partnership".
