So, where does one find all these oil jobs in North Dakota? Is there a website I can go to? Can someone intelligent but with no mechanical skills find work?

Minerva is right down the road from me a few miles. Not sure what I could do to help, but at least there would be an HTer close by to talk to. Prayers that you get what you need.

a word of caution when jumping in to the dating pool

a wise man once said about women... they're all head cases it just depends on what you want to put up with...
now before all the ladies jump down my throat... i will say that i am still married to him and after looking at myself and my friends.. he is pretty much right.

also if you can afford to volunteer for a while there is a program that offers room and board for volunteering at organic farms of different types. cant remember the name but i am sure you could google it, and its great experience.

arctcow, whatcha doing now up here? Just curious

Any place that they are working on drilling, much of the day labor types are going to be working in that field, leaving everything else going begging. Parts of Colorada seemingly have the same issue as N. Dakota, but I don't know the specific areas.

I second getting on with a custom cutting crew. At least you can sock away some money and not have to worry about room or board for the harvest season. One of my milk customers is a custom harvester, he was trying to steal Mark away, he needs workers. He says he needs somebody to either be on his harvesting crew that works it's way up north or he needs someone to drive a cotton truck in TX.

round my state of sd, there are jobs to be had working cattle. usually its including a house, beef, and some other niceness. if you can work cattle, you can come to south dakota. if you can't deal with cattle, jobs here dont' pay much.

Most of the rig jobs hire out of Williston ND.Much of the work is in the Stanley area. Both the west and northern ND.

yup, lots of oil work around here, pages and pages of help wanted BUT not for the faint of heart in the oil fields, a lot of people don't last, my son works in the oil field, they work when it is -35, or when the wind is blowing at 35 mph, around the clock no matter what. People come not prepared for the elements and they don't last. There are rigs going up everywhere. We are on the Bakken Plateau. I think you can get an idea of some jobs at the Shopper, the free little paper. <www.theshopperinc.net> you should be able to look at the help wanted pages. Then there is the Job Service website, i don't know what the website is. Be prepared though, you have to drive several hundred miles for any major shopping. ONly thing here is Walmart and locally owned stores-no malls here.

arcticow, if you plan on heading to the Dakotas for the L48 version of Slope work, please please stop in downtown Anchorage and get outfitted with the correct outdoor winter gear. My hub works the Slope and the proper gear is crucial to your ability to work outdoors for extended periods. Army Navy is where you want to start. And don't forget your bunny boots
