I've had a Blackberry in the past... I prefer my Palm Treo smartphone. I don't pay extra for the internet service since I am always near a regular computer or a laptop with internet access. However, I did not have them block the internet on the phone so that in an emergency, I can still get to the internet for maps and other stuff and I just have to pay for the "extra" usage. My phone is with Verizon. In NYC, the Blackberry service has outages and problems that I wouldn't want to have to deal with. I think that their problems stem from how overloaded the service is there. EVERYBODY has a Blackberry there! It has been a year and a half with my current Treo and I have never had to use the internet on it.

No Blackberry; I have an iPhone and can't live without it.
