16 here.

It isn't supposed to be above freezing until Sunday. Many of the city school districts have closed. But my wife's and son's private shool is open.

I'm going to have to break out the seed catalogs and makes some orders or sommething similar to instill a little hope.

It is 19 here right now with the windchill of 4. All the animals made it through last night, I sure hope they make it through tonight and tomorrow night. None of the pipes have froze...... yet.

On the weather earlier today, they said it hasn't been this cold in Oklahoma since the 1980s. I don't really remember it being this cold then, but I do know we had a really bad winter in 1975 or 1976, with wind chills to almost 50 below. I remember that one because we were poor and had our gas shut off. We ended up living in the kitchen that winter, with blankets over the doors and with only an electric stove for heat and no hot water either. We burned that stove up before winter was over, lol. When we had to go down the hall to the bathroom, we had to take a knife to chip the ice in the bowl first. Not sure why the pipes didn't freeze up, but they were fine!
Well not sure about the wind chill but I purty sure it's been this cold since the 80's. But I do remember the early 80's. I had just started work for an outfit in the southern part of Tulsa. I believe it was the first year I worked there which would have been 1981 the temperature droped down to the single digits and teens. It stayed that way for over 2 weeks. Toward the end of the freeze spell it warmed up to something like 21 degrees. We had gotten so acclumated to the cold that we thought we was getting to warm and started shedding our coats when the temps got up in the 20's.

They're claiming wind chills around -20 today. Needless to say, I'm not setting foot outside the house!

It's so cold that the hot water pipe that runs through out attic isn't flowing.

So, no shave or shower before work today.

I've got that "Miami Vice" look going.

I'm going to be a chick magnet.

That is, if there are any chicks who still remember that show.

Our water is freezing up as well I am trying to get it thawed out so we can shower tonight. the tractors won't start feeding and putting out hay is going to be interesting.

We do have sun which is very nice but the snow means I am using the sunglasses. Wow it is bright. The dogs don't even seem to notice the weather. I want a dog coat for the next few days.

Is there any end to this? I vote we charge Mother nature w/ terrorism and lock her up until spring... no then it's tornados lets lock her up forever. Or at least make her promise to leave Canadian artic air in Canada. Hello this is Oklahoma not the Dakotas. YUCK!!!!

It got down to 3 here last night and is 13 right now with a wind chill of 1, brrrr! I've got my sink cabinets open and space heaters going in front of them, plus I left a trickle of water in both sinks, so my water is still going. However, I made sure all my water bottles were full yesterday just in case. I have 46 gallons of water total in bottles. My pipes froze in the Christmas storm, so I've been careful since then!

I have half of the frozen faucets thawed. woo hoo!!! Now to get the tractors to start w/o killing the batteries.

I am so tired and I have not done anything!!!

I can't wait for the 40's I just hope there is no rain w/ it. I still say 40 and rain is about as cold as it gets.

The inside of the house needs work and I just don't care. Where is my maid when I need her?! I am not complaining(much) I feel blessed that I am in good enough shape to clean my own house now. I did have to have help when my back was so bad and after surgery for some time. Now I am good.. I do miss having someone else in the house to chat w/ while we were cleaning. I could n't lift much of anything and some bending was painful.

I just now am really carefull and slow(er). I am glad most of the ice is gone or not a real problem. The thought of hitting the ground just makes me ache.

Modern equipment is so handy and allows me to work smarter not harder. When I can get it to start anyway. Now I am thawed again and will stop rambling.

How do you all deal w/ boredom doing stuff always by yourselves? Sometimes the peace it nice but it is fun to do things with others too. I am glad this forum is around as most of my family and city friends think we are nuts. Days like these I think we are too. Have fun everyone come August we will be wishing for some cold again.

My pipes are froze too, course they always freeze when it gets below 20 degrees. On the boredom topic, it generally don't bother me, have always done stuff alone and it has always given me a chance to think.

Our well house was frozen this AM, much to the dismay of the livestock I swiped their heat lamps and put them in the well house and 2 hours later we had running water again. I'm sure we will freeze again over night.

High today of 17 degrees and going to a low of zero tonight. We're watching the outside faucet. It's wrapped and has one of those snow jackets on it, but it did freeze once before when we had several days of sub-zero temps. We've got plenty of water stored in case we have to turn the watermain off. Just hope it doesn't come to that.
