Shoot, I got in trouble for sending a Merry Christmas card to one of my Pagan friends. I didn't know it was supposed to be "Yule Tide Greetings", or did I get that wrong too? My Mama always told me that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. So I guess I am on my way.
You are killing me!!!! I have "foot in mouth" disease, too!!!
I am always having that same problem...I try to be nice and it bites me in the butt!!! I have been "mean" a time or two here on HT, but it was directed at people who were being mean to someone else and nothing bothers me more than unnecessary meanness. I suppose my comments were also seen that way, but my INTENTIONS were good!.

Well, my 2 cents on the OP comments.

I've been on here a long time and a time or two have gotten so disgusted at the rude and obnoxious behavior by some of the posters I stopped coming.

But, I missed the place and realized it was only a small handful who were the consistent troublemakers.

I know we all have bad days. We all say things we wish we hadn't. I sure have, and hopefully I've apologized where I've been aware of overstepping.
But there is a core group that never stops.

If one of the mods calls the group as a whole to 'play nice' these habitual malfactors are generally the first to mock the call to order under the guise of a "humerous" answer. I guess I still believe in obeying authority and it iritated me when I saw this pattern over and over. It troubled me when they were never really disciplined by a significant time out.

But it's not my forum.

And there are too many people here whose posts have taught me a lot. There are many here whom I genuinely like.
There are a number here who have been very helpful and even comforting to me when I needed it, and it's because of them that I want to stay.

So, my personal solution was to use the ignore feature.
It has helped a lot.
Now when I scroll down the posts, those particular people's posts do not display what they wrote, and when I open a thread where they do participate their input is not displayed. It works for me. I don't miss them or their comments. They had nothing helpful or positive or enlightening or uplifting to add to my life.

I treat it as I do television: this (on MY end) is MY space and I will not subject myself to unwelcome activity. I have no control over what rude or ignorant posters write, just as I have no control over what broadcasters put on the air.
However, I can control what I watch or read.

Oggie - can I have a copy of this and insert the forum I choose in "Pig" place when necessary?

I think that the use of a different font and in bold at that makes you a little uppity anyhow.

the bold off, and changed to Arial = easier to read.

I resemble that remark on at least 2 different levels.

Agree with you.

I understand what you are saying. It is logical.

On the other hand, we are humans, and it seems we like to talk about things & stuff.

It gets very hard to manage a web site with _no_ offtopic messages allowed anywhere. After a time one starts to feel 5 years old when in a forum like that. Threads keep disappearing for the smallest side-track, and along with it goes a lot of info. People stop replying because the thread will go away anyhow. And so it all goes away in a trainwreck. Good people turn timid and it just meltrs down. It's best to have one forum that allows a bit of freedom, where all the gunk accumulates....... imho

The other side is with no moderation at all. Likewise it trainwrecks and the good people tend to stay away.

That balancing act is very difficult on any forum, to keep things active, interesting, inclusive, and open. After all, they _want_ people to visit here, to post here.

My hats off to the people with the patience to moderate this place as evenly & levely as they do. I have not agreed with every choice they have made; but I agree with the general flavor & direction they have taken these forums.

Many thanks for how it all is run.

--->Paul

but alas politics are one of the subjects many find it hard to debate in a productive manner.

Gc gives folks a place they can discuss those topics with out effecting the other forums. even in gc politics has its own board.

Well, I read the heading, and I thought "Ooh! Rude posters! Porno pictures! It's one way to drive up the number of visitors, and finance the site. Didn't think Chuck would go for it, though." Then I saw that they'd got down and dirty in the Pig Forum. "Hmmm. This may be a bit rich for my blood." Then I saw "Everyone is getting Cabin Fever." Well, sorry, folks, but I'm outa here.

Since this thread has turned into a "Blame Cabin Fever" rant, I am going to close it.

From now on, "What happens in the Pigs Forum, stays in the Pig Forum"....okay?

Glad to see you're not leaving us, Andreozzi.
