But Shygal, you should vote for me, or I'll make you a mod in the politics forum for the rest of your life.
See, I knew you didn't like me

People place votes for many reasons. In an election, some place their vote against a candidate. Is that proper? Is that against logic or ethics? During a jury trial, some place their "vote" irregardless of the legalities of the circumstances, as instructed by the judge, either to convict or for freedom. Is that proper? Is that against logic or ethics?

I place my vote according to my conscience, not according to what the RULEMAKERS tell me. They don't control my vote.

Ahh yea, I voted for Chuck's video.

What I'd really like to do is ask you all to PRAY that we win, because I'd SO like to bring Mason along on this upcoming trip to Malta, and I can't afford the $1600 plane fare myself. This would be a great experience for him.

But I guess asking God to take sides could be construed as cheating, too.

Did any of you think "so this is how Chuck can do all these adventures" - maybe I need to check this out, maybe even read that book?

I'm just saying, all the videos prove a single person can execute the premise of the book, and Chuck has proved it can be done with a wife and family.

So, While posting this request for votes - he's leading you to a brighter possible future if you take the lead and take a chance.

His work sends him on these "adventures".......

Yes it does. How did he get this work? I know all you want to do is try to tear him down, but you could have a more interesting, fun, life if you looked to see how he got where he is. Even if you only use 1/2 the energy you use to try to bring him down to your level.

You might be happier.

Exactly what happened to me! It definitely introduced me to something I'd never heard of but have an interest in!

Oh please. I have no interest in "tearing him down" or trying to bring him "down to my level" whatever the heck that is supposed to mean. Maybe I would have to bring him UP to "my level" This isnt a caste system here.

I just dont have the hero worship going on here that a lot of you do. And I don't have to.

And thanks, but my life is fun and interesting and happy already. Just because someone doesn't agree with the crowd here does not mean they have no life or are unhappy LoL . I think you'd be quite surprised actually.

*Sigh.*

For Pete's sake, people. I'm just a guy. I do my best with what I'm given.

Shygal, I don't have anything against you. I wonder sometimes if someone was very, very mean to you at some time in your life, because your posts are rarely uplifting or encouraging. You are very critical of almost anything I say.

But I've understood since I took this site over seven years ago that being the guy in charge makes me a magnet for people's frustration. I'm cool with that, and I don't take it personally.

But it doesn't seem very constructive for people to spend so much effort trying to poke holes in one another.

As for my "adventures," I get to travel to so many places because I've found a way to make that my "work." I'm not independently wealthy, I've just found a way to do what I love and get paid for it. I think that gives me something to offer others.

As far as this competition goes - the point was to introduce people to Mr. Ferriss' books. I have benefited from them, so I gladly entered the contest. I told everyone I know to go look at the videos and (hopefully) vote for me. In doing so, we've likely sold over 200 copies of "The Four Hour Workweek." At $20 apiece, my contribution alone has paid for a plane ticket, and then some. And it took an hour (more or less) of my time.

If we win the competition (which, if anyone bothered to read the rules of the game, is NOT based solely on the number of votes we get) I'll get to take my 12-year-old son with me to Malta next week to shoot a 10-day documentary of a dive expedition looking for an ancient shipwreck there. What a great opportunity for anyone, much less a 12-year-old!

I don't have the money to bring Mason along. But by investing an hour of my time promoting a book I believe in, Tim Ferris gets some great marketing, my friends get introduced to a great book, and my son might get the trip of a lifetime. Everyone wins.

And if we don't get the plane ticket, we helped a bunch of people.

Since you won't click the link, Shygal, you'll miss all the good stories it contains. That's your loss. But I think you are criticizing something you don't fully understand. If you actually watched the videos and/or read the book, then your criticism might seem less, well, shrill.

True,, as she should just take a "time out" for awhile and think on a few things in, about, her life.

Well Chuck if it is any consolation, lol..I voted for you. And I will be doubly envious when you go to Malta and it is warm there and I'm sitting here in GA. freezing cause the Good Lord has a sense of humor!

Hope you win and can do a wonderful documentary - maybe you can share a link to it when it is done.

It is tough being a positive light in the world of negativity - just keep doing what you are doing and your light will continue to shine brightly.

Best wishes and Happy New Year to you and your family,

Oh, *I* am going for sure. I've been planning this documentary/expedition for years, and it's finally come together. Our crew will be spending ten days, looking for evidence of St. Paul's shipwreck spoken of in Acts 27-28. We're bringing along the editor of Wreck Diving Magazine, who will be featuring our expedition in his magazine.

When the documentary is finished, we will be shopping it around to various TV channels - so I'll let you know when it is available.
