SS is another forum called sufficientself.com. Some of you might be familiar with the Backyardchickens.com site. The owner spun off a few websites: SufficientSelf, BackyardHerds and TheEasyGarden.

Welcome Karen, from south GA. We live on DH's grandfather's farm of 18 acres with chickens, rabbits, a steer, a pig, and 3 dogs. We grow much of what we eat and recently added fruit trees and will be adding some more with my Christmas money. I used to have dairy goats and really miss them. My new hubby doesn't like goats, but I think he will adjust to the idea in the future.

Listen, I can our meats, it is really easy once you get used to it. Do you have a pressure canner yet? If not, get one and read what we all do on the preserving the harvest thread. Ask questions, and we will be glad to help you out. It's easy and great to put buy what you raised so that you know what is in it.

I look forward to reading your posts, firegirl.

FarmerChick

Welcome to the site!
I see from you initial post that you have cattle. Drop by the cattle forum and share your interests and your current experiences. Looking forward to seeing you there.
