I guess this is a good example why everyone always suggests getting a book (like the ball blue book).

Veteran canners assumed if you have done any canning at all (you mentioned high acid BWB canning) that you would know the jars had to be upright. So no one mentioned it and now you have something that most would recommend you either reprocess immediately or store in the fridge until you use. It is funny how something simple gets left out becuase it seems obvious to those that do it routinely - but it is not to novices.

When I can less than a full batch I put jars of water (no lid) in the canner to keep the rest from bumping around during the process.

There is a ton of information on the "preserving the harvest" forum on this site. It always surprises me when someone asks a canning question on one of the other furoms when that one already has the answer to just about any question a canner would want to ask. When I started canning seriously I did lots of goggle searches and half the time I'd get redirected to that forum for the best answers.

Maybe you have a combo canner cooker?
