I saved half of the cost of Geico by going through Costco -

I now have Ameriprise. The also do home insurance. I think their call center is here on US soil, which is nice. Never long wait and all very pleasant.

So , I suppose IF I were too enroll in some of their other services my auto premium(s) would decrease . I realize they are a very good company to do business with , But , I wanted my premiums to go down , not , Up . I can't see any advantage too paying 30 a month extra for approximately the same coverage . I'm like everybody else cause I just live from paycheck to paycheck . , fordy

.............Their(USAA) monthly payment is $198(for 12 months) , SF , after I Updated my info this PM is $171(renewed every 6 months) , Triple AAA is ~$145 for a 12 month premium . The above quotes are for (2) vehicles , 2003 Chevy 3500 8.1 Dually Silverado LT , and a 2008 Ford Ranger Supercab 2.3 . Both vehicles are 2Wdr. with basic antitheft systems . I'll probably just stay with SF ! , fordy

USAA is the United States Army Automobile Association. It began in the 1920's to provide auto insurance to Army officers but was later opened up to officers of the other military branches. In the late 1990's they opened membership up to enlisted ranks and this year they have opened it up to veterans.

I've been with State Farm for about 40 years - yikes! Checked around a little a few years ago, and one company would insure my house, but not my car as it was too old!

..........These insurance companies all , use different sets of criteria too evaluate a new insuree as well as quoting a "Lower" premium ! I have (2) items on my record , I hit a deer in colorado in may\07 and "Turned" into a Pipe in a parking lot in feb\08 . The deer was a Comp claim (not used too raise my rates) , the pipe was an At fault(my fault) situation which , I found out is no different than If I had hit another vehicle . What good is insurance IF you're constantly afraid of filing a claim against the coverage they charge us for ?

We switched to State Farm from Liberty Mutual last year. We could get roadside assistance on all the cars, not just the ones with full coverage, and it saved us hundreds.

Our body shop mechanic had a warning though, may not apply in all states. In some states cheap knock-off aftermarket parts are used in figuring the repair price. Many companies do this. Geico is the worst. Most parts don't even meet oem specs.

I used State Farm for decades and I was quite happy with their service but finally found out they were considerably more expensive than alternatives. I've now have used Progressive for quite a while. I immediately dropped my cost by about a third when I made the switch and I've been quite happy with their service.

I've been with State Farm for 20 years. We insure 5 cars, three drivers, and our house - including the livestock. I have shopped around several times and no one has beat out SF yet.

Besides the better rates, I haven't found another company that accepts the livestock and the woodburner without a major hassle.

Been w/State Farm since 1st marriage so don't even want to say how many decades. They sent us a huge rate increase so we went shopping-Geico saved us 1/2 w/better coverage.
Now that others have said "watch out" I'm a little concerned...

My in-laws had used State Farm for decades. I've tried getting them to call around the last few years as I've always found State Farm to be amongst the most expensive (I have my independant agent check all her companies every year for a cheaper quote).

Finally FIL did so this summer since the economy is really starting to affect them too.
After calling my agent he was shocked to learn that he is now saving over $1200 a year with the new company!! He's thanked me profusely since then, I'm just happy he finally called!

So find a good independant agent and have them do the work for you
(or you can call several companies yourself for direct quotes)
