could i wait till spring , maybe , the wood lot is right next to the freinds house he probably wouldn't mind , however truck ,tractor and trailer is out besides not having a tractor it is just to tite for the van.

so i had been thinking glidinng out cut to length wood on a sled would be my best bet
now if only had a small draft horse or mule i could borow for a few days.

but for now it looks like i am the mule, but atleast it isn't that far 150 -200 yards to the farthest tree from the road and almost all down hill

i will have to go price out some polly sleds , but also keep my eyes open for some skis at good will , i kind of like the idea of building one i will have to price it out and see what is my better value , and with much of it being down hill i am thinking maybe a rear push bar

thanks for the car hood idea , that would be interesting

You know, for the price, you could easily build the ski sled (most of us have enough scrap wood lying around that all we'd have to buy is the old skis), AND get one of the plastic ones, and try both and see what you like the best.

Then report back to us!

The easiest thing I've ever seen for hauling heavy loads in snow is tobaggon. I've got one of those big poly "Otter" sleds from Fleet Farm and in deep snow with a heavy load the veins in your neck will stand out pulling it.

If you can find the heavy plastic you can make your own skis with the plastic that sled dog owners use for the dog sled. Just take some 1/2" or 3/4" plywood strips, score the plywood 1/2 way through about every inch or so to allow you to bend it. Put glue in the cuts and bend it up until the glue sets. Then fasten the plastic to the bottom of your new skis. If you can't find the plastic you can probably just wax the skis really good with paraffin wax melted into the wood.
