I have a cell antenna from wilson already. That was for a phone I had about six years ago where the antenna really helped. But then I didn't need it any more so I put it away. And now, my new cell phone doesn't have any place to plug in an antenna.

And the repeater thing sounds pretty smart.

The current repeater does not have an antenna jack of any kind. I'm gonna go for something bigger.

I'm an on-call nurse w/ a home based office, live on a farm in the middle of cell reception H***, metal roof, used to have to run out the back door to a spot between the house and the barn to get reception. Company supplies the cell phone. They provided a Z Boost repeater for me, which has fixed about 90% of my problems. I have an aerial mast outside where the antenna is mounted, the repeater unit is hanging on the wall. I seldom drop calls now unless the weather is bad--if it's raining/foggy, I don't get reception. Pay attention to the setup of the Z Boost-- it will tell you in the information where all the bits and pieces need to be placed to get maximum reception.

I'm a happier camper now.

If you use Sprint you can get what is called the AirWave which boosts your signal and makes your cell phone work like a land line where you do not pay additional minutes. Itis $25 a month plus I think $5 for each additional phone. I can't remember what I paid for the unit itself but it was cheaper than a house phone for me.

Update ...

I shelled out the big bucks and got a full fledged "repeater". The outside antenna is mounted on the roof. There is a wire from that to a computer-ish contraption about the size of a linksys wireless router. And a wire from the contraption to an indoor antenna.

It works. I get three bars all over the house. My phone calls sound fine and they are no longer dropped.
