We live in central Georgia and we are covered up with Argentine ants. They are so bad that we had to remove all the mulch from around our house so that we can keep an eye open for their trails. The best thing we have found to keep them some what under control is "Spectracide" Triazicide. You will never get rid of them. They go up trees after bird nests, love mulch, get worse after it rains and your top priority should be to keep them out and away from your house.

When they showed up the "fire-ants" left.

We have tried the boric acid-sugar-water. (lots of luck).
