Well I got a little better...I found a ford dealer closer to our home and they can get a key and have a tech come out and program it. According to the owners manual, if you only have 1 key and it's lost they have to erase the programing in the car and re-program and then program the new key. Some kind of anti-theft device. We could program up to 15 keys if we had the 1 key that is lost somewhere on our 10 acres.

Do that in the wrong place and the problem will be solved, you won't have a car anymore.

Once when my hubby was gone for a couple of weeks, I lost my keys but GOOD! I couldn't find them anywhere! I had a spare car key in my jewelry box so I could drive my car, and I had a garage door opener remote in the car so I could get in the house. Those two weeks without hubby (and without keys) was almost over as hubby was coming hoime, and I could get duplicates made of his set. I was in the kitchen looking at my daughter playing in the patio with her hot wheels trike. She lifted the seat and pulled out a toy and ran off. I had forgotten about the Hot Wheels! I went out and looked, and there were my keys under the seat!

Another time, I was ready to leave for work, and couldn't find my keys anywhere. I searched frantically and they were GONE. I went out to look in the car, and waaaaayyyyy down the street I saw my toddler son going along, trying my keys in every car door he came across!

Kids! Gotta love 'em! No, really, gotta. Even when they do things like this!

LOL. I would get a call within the hour BEGGING me to take it back. It has carried goats, sheep, pigs, dogs, hay, feed... This is not your yuppy wagon, it is a hard working van and it's "fragrance" tells the tale...

That sounds like my previous car, a Toyota Sienna van....we called her "The
Farmobile."

Look for something else and you will come across those keys. They seem to know when you are too focused on them.

I have 2 sets and can't count how many times I've had to grab the extra set...a few days/weeks later, the original set always turns up somewhere.
