That's good for your generation, but my age group is sometimes overtaken by a bit more urgency.

Exactly. Buy an overpriced tin of popcorn from your local Boy Scout Troop (Scout leader here), enjoy the contents, and then enjoy mouse proof TP. A double win.

Meanwhile, your in the middle of one of the biggest toilet paper holder states in the country because you live close to military installations. An ammo can is the best of the best for holding TP. It's even bearproof and sometimes human proof, haha.

ibcnya: the military places are way over on the East side of NC. We are up high in Western NC. I don't know if anything is bear proof?
I had to leave my wood box out there for now but will find something metal later in the week. Thanks everyone for good ideas.

Yes I know the military places are over on the east side because I have been there. I was just saying that in your area you should be able to find an ammo can cheap bcuz of yur proximity to these places. And mbe not bearproof if you put a couple strips of bacon in with your TP and leave yur greasy prints on the can and don't know how to make it a locking can. Good luck, you'll find something I'm sure.

Well - I did not intend for this thread to be funny but it sure has turned out that way! I needed a few good laughs today and so thanks for the funny posts!
Menglish: You are a genius! I had forgotten them but I have several new empty paint cans in the Garden House. We bought them to mix up paints and did not use them all. It will be perfect! I can write "toilet paper" on the lid for the City Folks and they have metal lids too. Thank you!
Now.....I have a container of wet wipes out there and two bottles of the Hand Sanitizer which has alcohol in it.......so I need to watch and see if the Rats drink the Hand Sanitizer and get drunk....
Thanks everyone!

I grew up with an outhouse. Rats won't bother a Sears and Roebuck or Monkey Wards catalog. I recall many times of setting out there in the garden cvonvienience cottage screaming at the top of my voice , "PAPER< PAPER!" My sister who was 7 years older than me would eventialy come strolling out there with a newspaper. I think she let me holler until I was getting hoarse before she fetched the paper.
We had an outhouse in Canada where we were renting a cabin that had a sign on the door that read,
SHUT THE DOOR OR THE PORKIES WILL DEVOUR THE SEAT!" Those little varmits will eat the plywood right off the the long windows where it was used for off season protection.

Get rid of the rats, mice, or what ever is getting the tp. Go to a good hardware and get the blocks of Final Bite. That will most likely stop your problem. We have about 3,000 dollars of radio equipment in a shack in the woods. After a week mice moved in. One block of Final Bite and we have seen no more signs of anything in the building. Good luck getting them. Sam

Good morning -- We cannot put poison out there since it is a very rustic building with enough room for even tiny chipmunks to get in there. Also, if someone left the door open, my cats would get in there! No to poison but I did get a metal paint can and it looks like it will work perfect! Thanks and everyone have a good week.

Maybe they're not eating the TP. Trap 'em, sell 'em to a street carnival. "See the world's most fastidious rats!! Only a quarter! They tear off tiny tidbits of tissue each time!"
And,just wait 'til next summer. Keep a lookout for those little bees that can hover down there, looking up at you............... They call 'em 'sweat bees'......

We use a coffee can for the spare roll and have one hanging on a tp holder. Once in a while they nibble on the roller tp but not usually. I keep bar bait in the outhouse. They seem to love that too
