Do it after it rains (or snows) with no wind. That is why we did it at night...also because we didn't want to attract attention to the smoke. Just so you know...the fire itself causes "wind". We thought, OMG it's getting windy!!! But it wasn't...it was the force of such a huge fire. SO...after rain, no wind is the the ticket!
