Are you a blogger?
You got a good blog site of your homestead, your activities? If so, post your web site here. Would be interesting to see what other homesteaders do around there place.
I don't have one but have been thinking about making one. Just not sure if anyone would be interested in the things I do. |
I got one, it is in my signature. Not a whole lotta folks visit it so I do it mostly for my own amusement.
My Blog |
Well, I'm not sure mine really qualifies as a good blog site for homesteading, but I did just start up my first blog recently.
You're welcome to look at it if you're interested though. http://www.sahmville.blogspot.com/ |
Mine is for my own amusement as well. I can only update it at work, so I either go in early or leave late. It can be rather boring, just grandkid stuff and restoring the old farm. A lot of our mistakes and a few good laughs. I post pics too.
Homesteading With Us I look forward to checking out everyone else's sites! |
Mine is not really a homestead blog, but more about my work in Kenya.
My Big Kenyan Adventure It will be updated this weekend. |
My blog is about our homestead, our life, homeschooling and whatever else I feel like sharing with folks. Enjoy!

I started my blog for our extended family and friends to keep up with our adventures as we move from Alaska to Missouri. It will be more focused on homesteading once we get down south since all our family thinks we are nuts!!
|
Our site isn't necessarily a "blog", but we do document and share our experiences & experiments. Our site has been online for about 4 years now and we get in the range of 1500 - 2000 visitors a day.
We started the site to try to help others by sharing our experiences on what has worked for us and what hasn't. The idea for the site was born out of shear frustration at how hard it was to find REAL information on solar, sustainability, etc. five years ago. So much of what you could find was "send me $25 bucks and I'll share the secrets of...". Made me mad to see folks claim to want to help the world -- but only if you were willing to send them cash. Now I've come to think of the site as a form of activism. I do my best to help others that have already decided this is the path for them. In helping others I hope to pay back the kindness of all those that have helped and taught me. The more of us that are self-sufficient and living more sustainably... the stronger our country and communities become in my opinion. So I encourage you to share your unique perspectives and experiences with the world. In the process you just might make the world a better place. Be well!! |
I have a blog and for many of the same reasons already posted by others. I think that it is fun and it also forces me to take photos of the different things that we do. The link to my blog is below:

Sure, I put one together so the friends and family could keep up. I used to send newsletters but it costs too much now.

Mine is in my signature line. I sometimes do homesteading posts, sometimes just rant or ramble about nothing in particular. Come by and leave a comment. :)
|
I plan on starting one once I start building our homestead- probably sometime next year. Of course, first I need to learn HOW to blog..... I really enjoy reading other folks blogs, though.
|
I started my own blog earlier this year. It is about our life here on the farm, frugal living, spirituality and any thing else I think of! Also started on Twitter for fun! I like writing and sharing information that may help others . Whether or not many read I don't know? My blog is called; lindarose-afrugalabundantlife@blogspot.com
|
I have a blog that is public but mostly visisted by family and friends. I post updates occasionally with what's going on with us, projects we're working on, and such. The link is in my sig.
|
I can't imagine that anyone wouldn't have seen it yet, but my wife keeps a bit of a journal at http://frmerswife.blogspot.com/
|
I blog too, but lately I haven't been posting much....have this bit of fiction I have been working on instead. It has caused me to rethink and rethink many things. I am considering putting it on the blog too, we'll see.
|
I have one, see below in siggy. I started it when we moved to Hungary so family and friends could see what we were up to. I haven't up-dated it much since we moved back to the US in Sept...some how writing I opened and put away 4 more boxes today doesn't very seem interesting. I really do need to get back to it, though, life is getting interesting again.
|
I blog sporadically. It is more of a ramble so my immediate family know that I am still alive and kicking. Not very interesting for most folk, I wouldn't imagine.
I can't figure out how to send the link? Can someone explain how? Mary |
Very nice blogs listed here. I enjoyed viewing them, some talented writers here!
|
Me too! Mostly about sewing, quilting, gardening and family life. http://www.sewglenda.blogspot.com

A friend of mine started a blog to keep people up to date when her daughter was having surgery. I loved how easy it was to check up on her without having to call and bother her. She'd have had to repeat the same story 100 times a day.
When we decided to move from NY to Alaska, I decided to start one to keep friends and family up to date on what was going on with us. We're off-grid so people have a bazillion questions for us. It is much easier for me to write it once (with pictures) than to explain it over and over without the picture to help people visualize (a forgotten art in this day and age). I can't wait to come back on a day when I have a little more time and read some of these blogs! I LOVE the wealth of information available on this forum so I can't wait to see some of the clever ideas people have had! http://maysmissive.blogspot.com/ |
I started late last year, as a "New Year's Resolution" kind of thing ... not so much current "homestead" things as remembering my growing up years on the ranch my grandparents homesteaded.
I'm an only child, grandparents and parents gone now for years ... and I'm probably the only person that remembers the stories told by them and things they did. My children did get to vacation at the ranch when they were young, but both are "city people" now and have been all their lives, as are all the grandchildren, so they will never hear these stories. The only way they will "remember" is if I can get them written down. My plan ... at this point ... is not only the blog but also to print out the stories and make up a binder for each of the two kids ... something they can keep and read, if they choose ... and pass on eventually. I posted on the other thread, but figured I would post here too.
www.frontporchindiana.blogspot.com Now I'm off to read the others... |
here's mine about our organic grain farm in Alberta.

I write a blog for the Findlay (Ohio) Courier newspaper. Used to do it several times a week. Now I'm lucky to make a couple times a month. Sometimes life is too boring to write about, sometimes it's just too busy to have time! It started out as a blog about how a single grandmother is building a homestead. SLOW GOING.....

My website has a blog section - www.wagsranch.com
|
I started one (linked in sig line) to document building our homestead. The entire process of building our $18/ft2 post and beam, off grid home is in there as well as our gardening, hunting, alternative energy, political ranting, food storage, and many other things that grab my attention.
|
I put our website up and started blogging, then a coyote got into our lambs and my husband's position was eliminated at work so I sort of lost the urge to write. Things got better last month and ta-da, I felt like writing again. I do a lot of farmers markets so the blog is meant to keep people in touch with the farm. I'm looking towards sustainability classes and agritourism www.sycamorecircle.com

Ours is in our signature. It's about building our earthbermed passive solar house and the other building projects we got going on and used to update family.
Also an attempt to return the favor of so many people that shared knowledge about alternative building online that really helped us. so figure it's only right . |
I have a homestead blog of our newest homesteading adventures. The last few posts have been about hunting, since deer season ends soon and that's mostly what I've been doing. But it has cheese making, cooking, gardening, tractors, sunsets, canning, etc. It's in my signiture.

I write about how we do things here at our house, our farmstead, with our animals, homeschooling, and our big project - building a butcher shop. See below.
When we built our tiny cottage I chronicled that too. Cheers -Walter Sugar Mountain Farm in the mountains of Vermont http://SugarMtnFarm.com/butchershop |
I have a website/blog for my favorite farm pictures. It's at http://www.fantastic-farm-and-country-pictures.com
