Knock on wood, I have never had to have a septic tank pumped. I have always had a septic tank, but never had it get full. We always put extra drain line when first hubby's dad put them in. DH and I have been here for 3 years. His aunt had her MH here before and we are using her septic tank. I was told by a septic tank guy over 20 years ago to pour my out-of-date milk down the drain and it would add bacteria to the septic tank to help "stuff" break down quicker. That may be the reason I have never had a problem.

I'm with you, Snakeoil.

I've lived in houses with septic systems for over 20 years. Have never had a tank pumped. Then again, we don't pollute it with a lot of solids (other than humanure) or chemicals and always add a combination of yeast and saw dust to it ever month.

No grease ... no ashes ... minimum veggie matter (the piggies get upset!) ... minimum chlorine and other chemicals.
