As with farm manure lagoons, you really would prefer to agitate the whole thing & get the sediment mixed up with the fluids. Then pump the sediment (solids) pumped out.

Your way you are getting out all the liquids, but only a part of the solids/ sediment.

Nothing really wrong with that.

But the point of pumping a tank out is to get the solids out of the bottom. The liqud should find it's way to the drain field ok.

You'll pull a few solids from around the tube, but not really clean them out.

Again, nothing wrong your way, but not the mostest efficent at what a person is trying to accomplish.
