I agree as there is a whole LOT more here that IF true is going and not just with the hoa.~! Never have I ever heard of a single person getting hassled at their place of employment. mHeck that has nothing to do what so ever with a HOA~!~
But it sure is getting bigger in what the story first started out to be, that is for sure. Nearly a unbelievable story now.

I switched spell check over to decipher and the best I can figure, since it's deer season, there must be a couple of undersized does hanging from the 'regulated minimum diameter' tree in the front yard, according to the hoa's..hose...whos...whoos regulations.

I'm glad Christy said it first. I am having a devil of a time following the story just trying to decode the spelling/grammar.

I find it hard to believe this person could pass any entry level test for any job.
No offense.

Home Owner's Associations are a way for neighborhoods to have a degree of consistancy. If I don't want to have to look at a junk yard in the front lawn of my neighbors, then I have to belong to a HOA that prohibits it.

HOA can be very weak or they can restrict what color you can paint your house.

If you don't want to "fit in" with the standards or norms of a community that has a HOA, move.

I don't live in a community controled by a HOA. I have friends that belong to HOA. I know of one that doesn't let you leave your garage door hang open and nothing can be left outside (back yard) overnight, not even a BBQ grill.

I know of a couple Condos that don't allow you to hang clothes out to dry on the balcony.

I do live in a township that has a Zoning Ordinance. That ordinance restricts how close to the property line I can build. It sets a minimum square footage for a home. It restrricts the number of non-operatioonal vehicles I can have outside. It limits the number of homes I can build on a lot. There is a whole book of regulations. I'm fine with it. It limits the trashy eyesores and helps preserve my land values.

It's possible in whatever capacity he is in henry comes from a different background and English is his second language, and it still comes a little difficult. That would fit in with his story & work with what is going on.

I have enjoyed the threads and hope he continues to post here. I do understand the raised eyebrow & a bit of wonder, but it is interesting reading in any event.

I would not be happy in a HOA area. I do appreciate minimal zoning as haypoint points out, tho I can be frustrated by it, I appreciate the setbacks & so forth. Where I am agriculture is somewhat protected by the zoning, it is difficult to carve up this county into 5 acre plots and put down the Mcmansions - as well as homesteads - and create a lot of friction between agriculture & city folk. But in order to get those protections, I have to conform a little bit myself.

A HOA would be way too much red tape for me, I can understand the negative issues against them! And if 1/2 of what henry says is true, he certanly is in a 'busybody' place.

Although I'm not supposed to tell anyone, I'll tell you fine people. I just got an email from some lady named Shelia who is dying from cancer. (Her husband died several years ago and left her a ton of money.) Anyway, she picked ME out of the millions of people on this earth to give me $110 Million. (Aren't I a lucky person?)

I only have to email her or call her lawyer. (I can't call her directly because her family is around - and she doesn't want her family to know she's leaving them out of her will.)

So sometime in the near future, I will be a millionaire - 110 times over! How cool is that?!? I'm going to be rich, RICH I tell ya!

I managed HOAs and condos for 26 years. I've never heard of a situation like this. An HOA cannot force anything on anyone that is outside the HOA property. The documents for the HOA are explicit in the property under the association. I've also never heard of going to an employer to enforce compliance.

Our HOA (we are on our third board of directors in as many years!) has decided to ignore the majority votes against paving and will be having the 2 main roads paved anyway, which the property owners get to pay for over a 10-year period...which is about how long the paving will hold up. The board claims we voted them in and they are like Congress: once in power they get to decide what is best for us so no more property owners voting on anything.

One of the brochures I was given when we looked at the property 15 years ago was of a boy and his dad with fishing gear walking barefoot down the dirt road to the river. If these folks want paving in the woods, they should move back to NJ!

My first wife was a fully functional, intelligent, and rational person from Brazil with a poor command of the English language. I'm sure glad I could look past that. We may have had some problems understanding everything that we said to each other, but some things everybody says in the same language. I have no experience with home owners associations, security clearance, or anything else mentioned here except the "getting chain yanked" part. Almost assuredly not. in the usual chain yanking, Look for things like similar language and phrases, same words misspelled, etc. Look for when one poster ceases posting and another starts. We're all aware of instances where a poster came back with a different ID and stirred the pot. Henry2 seems legitimate to me. Wish I could help him out.

One of my sisters worked for the DOJ and they did a background check and a credit check, and it was exactly like you are saying. You have to keep your nose clean so no one can put you in a compromising position ever. Even the appearance of a compromised position can be a terminating offence.

I have read stories of people being harassed by hoa's when they were not part of the hoa. It is possible and they can make your life miserable, especially if a hoa is created after you have purchased a home there. I've seen posts on craigslist where people have had to get rid of items after a hoa changed rules or someone has never got the rules and did something to offend the current hoa enforcement deputy. People can be real jerks if they don't approve of what you are doing with your property, even if they are not being harmed or bothered by what you do on your property.

I sincerely hope the op gets this whole mess worked out and can file some sort of charges against whoever is harassing them. This is pure harassment.

Many people didn't believe the person who's house was being shot up either.
