You can get old Mother Earth News archives on CD for a reasonable cost. Might be worth it to look at what they ahve available as a resource for you.

I almost shot a neighbor of mine when I learned he'd taken his collection of Mother Earth News to the recycling center. I have the first 4 years, plus a number of issues since then. Also have a lot of back issues of Countryside, Organic Gardening and various issues of a number of related other ones.

Even if they had been duplicates I could have used them. Duplicates get taken apart and the contents stored in notebooks devoted to various subjects. Canning, pickles, chickens, camp cooking, candles & lye soap, etc.

The Mother Earth CD would be a great investment, especially since it is much easier to get to info when it is catalouged on a CD...and it takes up much less space! But there is something about turning a page...

I am sure there is a tresure trove of info in this forum...I am starting to search out threads for tips as we speak!

Agree the Cd's are good, until the computer goes down. Or when I need the info in one end of the house and the computer is in the other end.

Those are the two reasons why I still like paper. Even when I have CD's I often print out the most important info.

Just 2-cents.

Nope...still on! I should be able to get it in before I start any livestock, so I am sure I can work it out.

Still waiting for final conformation, though, and until then I don't want to get to far ahead of myself...

I bought two boxes of Mother Earth News magazines from the '70s and '80s at a garage sale about ten years ago for $5. I read them over and over! If you go to enough yard sales and estate auctions you will run across them. Yes, they do take up a lot of room, but a lot of us would rather read an actual page than a computer screen.
