Hey, don't worry about it. WIHH has actually done what you've implied! She has painted a piece with two different paint colors...say, black over red. Then when she takes to the completely black piece with her sander, areas of red will show through in the "distressed" areas.

The reason I was wanting to know is...

I am having a fellow build me a "canning Coffin" as I am calling it. He builds custom coffins and makes book shelves out of them so you can use them before you really need them. I do upholstery so I am trading my work on all of his coffins for one of my own. Anyway That is the color I want on mine and then have barn boards as trim and the barn door "X" on the lid. He hand forges the side pieces with handles. I am going to use it to store my canning jars. It should hold about 180 jars.

Kind of sounds weird in writing but they are neat in real life. He does a good job and offers them to people without charging a fortune.
