When you have one kid in the class, they are learning at their own pace. it doesn't matter what the curriculum looks like. and I completely agree with Lilandra, like anything else, homeschooling is what you make of it.
I've known some home schooling parents who were doing a phenomenal job. And I've known some home schooling parents who were absolutely atrocious!
"Going at their own pace" can mean creating a developmentally appropriate course of study. Or, it can mean letting the student decide they don't want to do math anymore! lol

He is loving the school he is in right now but with the chance to own instead of rent we are trying to find a house in a good school district closer to Mr GBov's work. Funny how schools almost side by side can be soooooo different.
I would check with the private schools to see what kinds of financial aid they offer. You would be surprised as to how much they do give out in aid, especially the religious private schools.

There are some free home schools. For example, TXVA in Texas. Not sure whats available in Florida.

Gotta love dems & teacher's unions.
