I'll stick with my 3/4 ton ford with the 7.3 International diesel. If I ever change trucks Im upgrading to a flatbed International. I need more truck. Not less.

I would need to see how the truck performs over time, but I'm glad to see a company taking fuel mileage seriously (for trucks). Lots of folks have Mahindra tractors around here and have had good service for several years out of them. My truck is a 2007 GMC 4x4 with a small V-8 and gets about 17 MPG on most trips, a little more if I'm not towing/hauling and a lot less if I'm pulling 3 tons of hay in tow mode.

"OR Haul 50 BALES of hay in it also~"
And you are not hauling 50 full sized hay bales in it either. I have been hauling a lot of hay recently and going 4 bales high in a full sized p/U I am hard pressed to get 25 bales in the truck. Lets at least get real with the comparisons.

Your hay bales in Texas and what we have here in WI. Are like night and day difference.
These are 40 pound kicker bales and Weigh a lot less and smaller then anything you bale in the South or Southwest.
Standing the bales on edge, I get 4 Across the front of the bed in front of the tire well. So JUST the bottom row has 14 on it wit the tail gate down. OR 11 if the tail gate is closed That is JUST the first layer.~!~

Reminds me of long ago when I bought hay in WI. Seller showed up in beat up old pickup pulling a hay wagon. I think he had about 50 bales in the bed of the truck. He had them stacked way high and tied down tight. Probably did about 20 mph or less on his way over (was about 30 miles). Guess he needed the money - I paid cash for a load of 400 bales. He did make it in one load too!

My last job was outsourced to India, I won't be a part of outsourcing someone elses job to India. There will NEVER be an Indian truck in my future.
Besides my F150 gets 21 city and 25-27 Hiway

Say what you want about it, but it beats anything "US" auto makers are trying to put together no days. If we are going to compare lets compare off the show room floor American trucks to that and I think its got something going for it.

You are couple or three decades too late. Some cars may be assembled in the USA but parts come from all around the world that go in them.

I say bring them on! I am all about keeping jobs here and buying American. But, US auto makers just don't get it. We need to see more small diesel powerd vehicles here in the US. We could get off of OPECs oil if half the cars in America were DIESEL. Maybe if they bring these over and they sell US auto makers will start to make there own diesel vehicles. I know this truck will not do what my Chevy 2500 but it is not the same kind of truck. I think this truck could be very use full to a regular family man that just needs to haul some plants and stuff like that from home depot. And does not need that big a bed. Lets face it we (homesteading types) do not make up the majority of Americans. JMHO

I though this deal smelled awfully familiar. Does anyone remember the Aro? Potential dealers and customers who pre-paid for these, lost big time on vehicles in which no way could they pass U.S. saftey and emission certification.
Seems the same guy is running a differnt show.
Miami Company to Import Rugged Romanian SUV
Oct. 5-(2003)-For drivers who have always had the urge to take their SUV off road but have been afraid to do so, John A. Perez says he has the vehicle for you. Perez's Miami company plans to bring into the United States next spring the Cross Lander 244X, an import with 4-by-4 capability that's known as the Aro in its home country of Romania. With a price tag under $20,000, Perez believes drivers who would otherwise refrain from taking their high-priced SUVs off the highway will not have any reservations about getting the Cross Lander a little muddy.

Mahindra Says Wait and See 06-28-09
John Perez, chief executive of Global Vehicles, says he thinks there is room for an affordable, utilitarian Indian pickup in a market swarming with outsize gadget-laden trucks from Detroit — not to mention those from Toyota, Nissan and others.
Mahindra’s American strategy is to offer high value and good mileage from efficient diesel engines.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/28/au.../28MAHIND.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ARO
John Perez, offered franchise agreements in 1998 to USA auto dealers. Some 200 dealers paid $75,000 each, for a total of $15 million dollars, for franchise rights. These rights were offered by the company, East European Imports. The ARO was offered as a Warsaw pact surplus military vehicle. After the franchises were sold, dealers were pressured to send cashiers checks or wire transfers to start receiving vehicles that were allegedly in a USA port in Florida. Dealers refused and insisted to pay upon delivery. Immediately, East European Imports -- closed its doors.

I read on tractorbynet that a good chunk of the Mahindra tractors are made in the old Indian Ford Tractor Plants and that 80% of the tractor parts match right up to an old style Ford/New Holland.
I bet the engines in these trucks are built off a license from a Jap/Korean Company (i.e. Mitsubishi, Daedong, Yanmar, etc). Japan and Korea have millions of small diesal delivery and farm trucks (bongo trucks) that they copies from Voltzwagon.

Is the Home Depot customer buying potted plants who they sell those 4 door pickups with the teeny tiny box on them? I just scratch my head in wonder when I see those silly things. Trouble is its going to put a pinch on anybody wanting a used single cab pickup in the future as I am just not seeing very many new traditional single cab pickups. And definitely no new basic models without all the annoying high profit "convenience" doodads.

There being built in india for now and suppose to be built in ohio when production ramps up but who knows.

Regular cabs are nice for you and Mrs, but they don't do much form me and my 2 boys in car seats. Or the next time we take the truck to the grocery store and it starts to rain. I know people who have trucks and have never put a thing in the back bigger than a bag of dog food. Myself a regular cab would have a hard time fitting me, the mrs, two boys and a the dog plus pull my tractor down to camp. Power windows and ac is all I need tho. Had an 07 silverdo. Truck of the year they said. 8k miles into it it needed 4 new tires because they claimed it came off the line unalighned. ac broke fancy power back window broke. power seat broke. cloth fabric was cheap feeling. Ditched it at 30k miles traded on 2000 Super duty with a plow and 9 grand. Best move I ever made. New US vehicles are cheap crap.

What exactly can you haul in your 3ft long "truck bed" that you couldnt haul in a car or suv or van?
You NEED power windows? Sorry for your injury, hope it isnt permanent.

I think it's a rather awkward looking truck. Almost as bad as that new "Cube" that has come out... saw one in person last week, it's the ugliest vehicle manufactured since the 70's.

I need the power windows so I can talk on my cell and count my change when i go thru the drive thru for my coffee in the morning. HermitJohn you need to get out more.

My big ol' 1975 GMC dually w/454 engine, 8 cyl., and big Edelbrach carb. gets exactly 6 (SIX) mpg anywhere! I love my truck, but can't afford to drive it. Left it sit in the yard for over a year, and after pouring a bit of gas into the carb it started up and ran like a top. Oh well, I will never afford a new truck....Mary.

I recently bought a 2005 Toyota Tacoma and while the mileage is that of a truck, about 18-20, it has all the power we need to get a trailed pulled, tow a boat or get me in and out of the sticks when I engage the 4X4. But my daily driver is a Corolla because it has twice the mileage of the Taco.
I also had a big 3 SUV and it was a 2005 as well and it was a big piece of junk. Has various issues that the manufacturer said they have never seen before, even though there are MANY references to it on the Internet and I personally have reported the same issue with way too much money spent on repairs. But it is a new issue to them everytime apparently.
I am not unpatriotic, as I served my country in the military, but I will NEVER buy another big 3 vehicle in my life.
