Yeah, it happens here every year too. We hadn't reached 100 in ambient temps in several years, and we've already had over a week of it this year.

I've lived here all my life, and I always know it's coming. I still haven't learned to like it though.

I'm above you in Georgia and all the heat is starting to have an ill effect on my garden. Too much heat too soon! Hang in there it will cool down a little soon.

I am tired of this heat too! Seems like it has gotten hotter, quicker this year. I have to go and get feed today and I am thoroughly dreading going as the AC broke in my car just before it started getting hot. The car is great for dehydrating though, things sure do dry out fast in there!

Its been just as hot and humid here in SW Missouri as you other hot folks have described. I've resisted turning on the A/C as long as I could stand it. But over this past weekend it was just too much so I finally turned it on -- I leave it at 79.

Now the upstairs of our old house is not air conditioned. I actually prefer sleeping with open windows so I can hear the summer night sounds --- katydids, hormonal mockingbirds that sing all night, and an occasional whippoorwill. But last night as I was flopping around trying to find a coolish spot so I could finally get some sleep I resolved to let DH rig up a window unit to cool off the upstairs. Either that or I'm gonna break out an air mattress and sleep on the living room floor. It's only JUNE! What are July and August going to be like?

Every winter I swear I will never complain about summer heat --- I'm trying to remind myself of the ice storms we suffered through the last couple of years.

Now, see, you have the worst of both worlds. Ice storms in the winter and high heat and humidity in the summer. At least here the winters are mild. I don't ever remember an ice storm, and can only remember a couple of times in my life (48) that we had ice on the roads for a few hours.

Kstornado, I feel the that way too.
My Nebraska Brother goes to Minnesota in the summer and Texas in the winter. I, on the other hand, stay here in good old Kansas, cause I have "critters' and garden and fruit trees to tend.

And when its 10 below here and Im complaining, I will come visit GA

We still haven't gotten much summer heat but it usually comes after the 4th of July. Here's a picture that may make you be happy to deal with the heat though:

Ahhh, no fair Old Vet! All we have is roll bars on our tractor, but the way the place is built into a hill and in the timber, our tractor can't be used for mowing our immediate yard, only the rest of our land.

Lisa, we have winters like that here too but somehow it just doesn't make it any easier when it feels like 114 degrees and you can't even breathe outside. I thank the Lord for AC! Whew. (But I'm not looking forward to winter again!!!!!!!!!)

I'll take the cold anytime. I can always put on more clothes but the law only allows me to remove so many before I get into trouble.

To me when it gets so hot and humid I just can't breath and feels like I'm going to stroke out.. and thats if I'm just standing doing nothing. Plus it plays hell on the bowels..

Now the cold I can take. fresh crisp air.. thats the time I can really get things done that need doin.

I just have to keep reminding myself of the blizzards, white-outs, and ice storms I saw those pictures of back in January and February.
I guess it's just your turn in the barrel. Think of us northern folk when we have a couple of feet of snow on the ground and sub-zero temps.

Good Luck, God Bless and remember this too shall pass.

Yesterday about killed me and they were saying today would be worse. I took care of my chicks early and came inside. But cloud cover has moved in and amazingly it's fairly comfortable outside - nothing like they predicted, thank the Lord.

I am actually going to go get some feed and then get groceries.
