You know, the older I get the more amazed I become at the attitudes and ideas of people.

Shooting your dog is like shooting your kid? Please. I have a dog. He's a great dog, and I like him a lot. I also go to a lot of trouble to make sure he stays at my house. If for some reason he got loose and was attacking you or any of your livestock I would expect you to shoot him. Call me after you shoot him, and I'll come get him and bury him. I'd also apologize to you for my dog causing you problems and offer to pay for any damages.

Going to "war" over a dog? Get real. War's are brutal and ugly and no ones comes out unscathed. I know you think you're invincible, but I promise there's someone out there meaner, tougher, and stronger than you. Besides that, if your dog is attacking someone's livestock they have the right to shoot it. If you start a "war" over them doing it you may very well go to prison, or even get killed by them defending themselves.

And yes, if I had a dog that bit one of my children, I'd shoot him myself.

It's really best not to go there...
You and I agree that it is no game. The point of my post was to steer folks away from the feud mentality. That mindset leads to death and destruction, especially to the people, critters and things you love.

You can tell what someone thinks by reading the bumper stickers on their car. You can also tell if they think at all.

Intelligent. post.....I agree......

I ain't no dog hater, I got 2 at the present.
But if my dog even showed his teeth to my child, or my stock I would put a 280 grain silver tip between his eyes.
and if he comes on your property and starts trouble I expect you to do the same.
I don't kill or poison ever dog I see , The neighber down the road has a 4 lb. yorky that comes calling often. I couldn't hurt a little kids pet so small the chickens could peck him to death.
Here in NC in my county anyway, if a dog is on your property causeing a problem the animal controll will tell you to kill it and not bother them.
The only problem is thay want pick um up dead ... and the guy at the dump hates it when you throw them in his dumpster. So we just throw them on a old brush pile and the varments will eat um.
Poison is by far the easyest way to rid your yard of these pests.
As for you people who buy a dog and let it rome the neighborhood . Killing peoples stock , taring out my trash. and causeing a problem for me . Say good by to it before you sat it free to rome. I've killed more than you can haul in a pick up.

I love these posts. I'm probably the most pro active person on this site when it comes to removing roaming dogs. There have been some real horror stories when it comes to being nice and contacting the dogs owners. Dog goes missing and who do the owners suspect. Nope, SSS and you win every time.
