Go to google.

Type in "livestock gas research"

See your tax dollars, as well as from other countries, researching & coming up with that exact thing.

Isn't it fun spending tax dollars?

Haven't read about it actually passing anywhere, but did read about it a couple months back:

http://www.denverpost.com/business/c...1971?source=bb

But the American Farm Bureau Federation said, based on federal Agriculture Department figures, it would require farms or ranches with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs to pay an annual fee of about $175 for each dairy cow, $87.50 per head of beef cattle and $20 for each hog.

The executive vice president of the Wyoming Farm Bureau Federation, Ken Hamilton, estimated the fee would cost owners of a modest-sized cattle ranch $30,000 to $40,000 a year. He said he has talked to a number of livestock owners about the proposals, and "all have said if the fees were carried out, it would bankrupt them."

About a year ago we stopped at one of those grocery stores that also had gas pumps. Girl at the register asked me if I had gas; I said no, I took Beano. I don't think she got the joke.

They keep making it harder and harder for farmers to survive. California was once and is still trying to be a major agricultural state. But I don't know how much longer before they have no farms left.

Several environmental groups lobbied for this. It is/was to become part of the clean air act that also included farmers not to create any dust.

Yep, get out your checkbook.

I live in CA and have never heard of this. Furthermore, it is virtually impossible to pass any new taxes OR tax increases, so that alone tells me it's bunk. Why do you think we are having to terminate virtually all government services and close most government offices? The state has NO money. Period.

Ahnuld has succeeded in shrinking CA government down so small he can drown it in a bathtub. Way to go, Herr Schwarzenegger.

When your only tool is a hammer all your problems look like nails, Govt. has taxation so its going to solve all our problems. All these carbon taxes are designed to make polutants more expensive, but if you tax essentails its just inflation. Terrible legislation painted green to fool the stupid into beleiving a tax can help the environment.
All these stores charging for plastic bags are just as bad. Managment moved an item from the expense column to the revenue column painted it green and patted themselves on the back. Buy a bag sure, but flip it inside out so they get no advertising.

I can't say about California, but if you don't think it is being considered on a national level, Google "flatulence tax" and remember......... who the President and the controlling party in Congress are.

I really hope that this hasn't passed as it would mean higher prices at the grocery store because you can bet that this tax would be passed on to the consumers.

Yup. They also want to fine ag producers who create dust. Farming without raising any dust. Now that would be a neat trick. The geniuses that come up with this stupidity don't care if they shut down agriculture in this country. Even if it is one of our biggest, most important industries. Almost everything is connect to agriculture somehow. But what do they care. They don't need farmers...their food comes from the grocery store not a farm.

I love this country!, who needs paid entertainment when watching and listening to the people is as much fun as it is. I figured some MSM Bozo ran something about this yelling and screaming about it. I heard some of the Mensa members at work discussing this so my guess is Faux News ran something.

Would that be the party in power now, or the party that was in power when these ridiculous things were dreamed up?

I've heard of that, but don't know any of the details. I wonder how this fight will develop in the states that have passed sovereignty laws that they don't have to "obey" federal laws and regulations.

Jennifer, there is only one party in DC. It's the Democrat/Republican party. They only pretend to be 2 parties so they can keep the people divided and fighting amongst themselves. They play their parts very well, convincing the general population that they are 2 different parties when they are really one organization working together.

We had a President serve under the single Democrat-Republican party before they divided it to maintain total control of politics. It used to be listed on the white house pages, but must have recently been deleted from them cause I can't find it now. It might still be listed in other sites that have listings of past pres's along with the party they belonged to.

I just get tired of the utter nonsense spewed daily about California and Californians and liberals and city dwellers and nonchristians and anyone who isn't in lockstep with the farthest right of the right wing. The endless hatemongering just results in murders eventually. Pay attention to the news.

PETA people and tree huggers are mostly vegetarians. They eat alot of beans. Lets tax them for excess emissions. Remember..California is like granola..full of fruits, nuts and flakes. Yeah, Florida is in the big three, along with NY and California. But we still have enough real floridians to balance out the D***ed yankees.

The Congress passed a law a while ago that gives the EPA the ability to regulate/tax methane emissions as a pollutant. The EPA is considering a Cow Fart Tax as their solution to the methane produced by Dairy Cows, Beefers and Pigs. They say these animals produce 20% of the methane that is put into the atmosphere. I guess they think that taxing these animals will cause the animals to cheek pinch or something, otherwise I don't know how the tax will stop the methane. . . unless they want the farmers have to slaughter their animals. PETA should think about that one. This is just another example of our government doing their part to cause more inflation and further tamper with the food supply.

Bingo!

The idea is to reduce the number of animals being raised.
