It may not work at all. Ants can de very hard to bait and rarely wipe the colony out. The best you can hope for is to knock the colony back a bit so they are not such a problem. I have made borax baits using several recipes from sugar to syrup to peanut butter to honey. What they eat today, they may ignore tomorrow. Commercial ant baits are just as iffy. One thing is not to get the borax concentration too high. At about 5%, the bait will repel ants instead of attracting them. There are times when a colony will stop eating sweets and only eat grease instead. Sometimes you can ad a drop or 2 of bacon grease to the bait and they will eat it.

Thanks! I think there was way to much borax.

A typical recipe is 1TSP corn syrup, 1/4 tsp borax powder ( 1/2 tsp if using Timbor ). Mix well and store in a jar with lid. Very important : before using, mix in 2 TSP water ( be sure and do this or the % of Borax will be too high ). You can put pieces of masking tape down where the ants are and put the poison on top of the tape for easy clean up. Cutting a drinking straw into 2 inch pieces and puting some poison in them and laying them around works well too. Small containers like film canisters with lids work well too. Just put some holes in them to allow ants to enter. Good luck.
