i have a simlar question...what Mortar mix for sticking brick directly overhead? doing some cultured stone work, and need a recommendation for sticky mortar to hold the brick in place until it cures..

actually used Masonbond for the face, and it worked ok...but overhead it would need something to hold it till it cures...

I am in no way an accomplised mason, but I DO know one great tool for the work. Old, arthrictic arms and hands wear out too fast mixing mortar,, but you can buy a thing that goes on a drill motor that is like a paint stirring tool on steorids, looks like an earth auger, that will let you mix a plactic bucket of mortar in about a minute.
