I have a '94 and '97 F350 for work. Get the tranny checked before any purchase. They wear out and cost a fortune to replace.

I have a '91 F150 appropriately named Squeeker. Now this truck will do most anything; it has a drinking problem! 12mpg last time I checked. It was an old Southland Industries truck, then went from hand to hand to repo man before I found him in the scrap junker bin at a local dealership. The dealer is still ----ed cause after having it for 4 years now it is still running; and he wants to sell me a new-to-me truck. With proper care it should last awhile.
BTW Up North, nice truck.

I didn't start out a Ford guy but by golly those old full-sized beast seem to be the most reliable things I have owned. And they are about the cheapest things to buy parts for too.
I have a 92 F-250, and the dimmer is on the turn signal stalk, was also the same on my 94 F-150.

My F-250 is a diesel, and I get between 15-20MPG, usually hovers around 18mpg. I have the extended cab, long bed (never saw the point of a short bed on a work truck.) I have the 3.55 gears in the rear end, which is good on the highway, but lowers my hauling cap a bit.

I vaguely remember some states requiring foreign cars sold in that state back in 60s have a floor dimmer switch retrofitted. Sure those laws are gone since most American vehicles have had steering column stalk dimmer switch for many years now. But who knows, wouldnt be big deal if wiring harness designed for such a modification. Take dealer a few minutes as part of new car prep if it was designed for this modification.

Not big deal, both work fine, but annoying if you own more than one vehicle and have to remember this vehicle has floor switch and that vehicle has it on stalk. I so rarely drive automagic tranny vehicle that when I do I will try to push the non existant clutch when coming to a stop and reach down looking for shifter. Sure opposite is true, those used to automagic probably forget to use clutch at times or wait until engine protests to upshift.

The 97 Super Duty I drove for the county had it on the floor. Maybe it was an option to have it either way

They didn't make Super Duties yet in '97.

Our good pickup is a '97 F250 PSD (ie, the old style). It has the dimmer on the wiper stalk.
DH's work pickup is a '94 F250 also has it on the wiper stalk...
Our '74 F250, on the other hand, does indeed have the floor dimmer.

Phil, I'm thinkin' someone had modified that particular pickup for a floor dimmer...

PS: We've had really good luck with Ford pickups. Every ranch we've ever lived/worked on used Fords, not to mention our personal vehicles...

1968 F350

I just have to chime in..DH has a 1968 F350 and we love it. We don't drive it much, but when we do it runs like a top! We also have a '95 F150 with over 200k miles. it is very rusty, but it still runs great also.

I drive a '94 F150 4WD with the straight 6. Manual 5-speed and manual everything else. No A/C or frills of any sort. I am hoping it is the last truck I buy. I have pulled our 4-horse trailer with it, not fast, but it humps along just fine.

It's a five-eighths of sorts-- a half-ton with three-quarter ton springs. I get about 20 mpg unloaded, which is tolerable.

It's rigged to pull a ball-mount fifth wheel, but I don't have one, so I can't tell you how it does at that. One of our neighbors has the six in his F-250, and it pulls a fifth wheel quite stylishly.

I don't care for the 302-- it hasn't got the guts or economy of the six in my experience. I junked one out two years ago.

We had a 250 with the 351, and it would pull medium-sized stumps, but the mileage was hateful. The best it ever got was about 12 mpg. That said, I wish we still had that truck. It was as reliable as sunrise, which can't be said of our current '94 GM three-quarter. Maybe we just got a dog, I dunno. Others seem to have great luck with them.
