Gallump I hate to hear this type of stuff. Get yourself another lawyer, this one was just out for the $.
As for your personal posessions, consider 'selling' them to someone who is in the family for pennies on the dollar, so that you can get them off your list that will go to the courts. That includes fishing/guns/PC etc.
I just talked with a guy who is totally able to work, has a company, good job, etc. His only problem is a wife who can't stop spending. His solution to -her- problem is to do a Chapter 13, which will effectively prevent -her- from getting credit or floating her adult kids lives on their bank accounts and credit cards for 5 years.
It really made me mad that he was choosing to go that route and have the taxpayer foot the bill, instead of getting her in some type of therapy that he can well afford to pay for or simply divorcing her to divide up the bills. Once again she will escape having to deal with the consequences of overspending!
My sympathies on your predicament. There is something seriously wrong with our laws that stomp on a downed man.

I have never filed bankruptcy and I know everybody's situation is different.
A lawyer once advised me to file bankruptcy due to a divorce, heart attack, medical bills, etc.
I couldn't really afford to even file bankruptcy, so I got hold of my creditors and cut some deals. I told them they could work with me or I'd be forced to file.
Most were willing to work with me, I paid off a lot of medical bills $50 or $100 a month for a few years.
I don't pretend to know everybody's circumstances, but that's what worked for me.
Now all I owe is the lawyer.
