Anyone want a penpal from Oregon? I have 2 current penpals but would enjoy more! I just turned 55, am single, work at a middle school, and have a small "urban homestead". I LOVE my chickens and like to veggie garden. I enjoy sewing, scrapbooking, crochet/knit, rubberstamping...all sorts of stuff. I would love to discuss the problems of being older, single and trying to "do it all" myself with someone else who is facing the same challenges - male or female - doesn't matter. PM me and I will give you my address.

I have two. One doesn't really understand why I don't send 10 page letters once a week or so. The other is a veg and dairy goat farmer. She's perfect! If I don't have time to write for two months it's ok. If I don't hear from her for three months, it's ok.

I'd like to join in also.

I'm almost 40 with 2 almost teens, 2 cats, 2 bunnies and one husband! We are transplants to southwest va from MA. I'm working on my self sufficiency skills - gardening, etc. but have a loooooong way to go. I have a small business also which keeps me very busy which i try to balance with everything else. I love to bake, cook, have tea, garden, do crafts when i have time. I hope to learn how to can, and dry, etc. my garden stuff this year. If you'd like to be pen pals, pm me.

WIHH posted this thread about a longtime homesteader- Billie in W CO

who is now in MISSOURI

http://www.homesteadingtoday.com/sho...d.php?t=297754

It sounds like she could sure use a letter, maybe even if she is not an actual pen-pal. I'm going to send a letter, and fold a couple of dollars inside.

Rick

When my brother was in Viet Nam war he gave my address to several of his buddies. I was in the 7th grade & was writting 4 guys all the time, they really enjoyed it, I'm sure I rambled on a lot. One of them called me when he was on leave in Paris for my 14th birthday, I'll never forget those letters or feelings. Wish I would have saved them, some of them sent pictures, most gorgeous guys I had ever seen! Aw, a young girls eyes, wish I still had them. Pen pals are great!

i have this friend from newfoundland that i correspond with. sometimes i dont hear from her for 6 or 8 months.we are both busy i guess but this has been going on for 40 years.

I dont think i know who Billie is. maybe she left before i came. but if WIHH knows her that's good enough for me. i think i'll do what Rick is planning if it'll be acceptable to her. somebody tell me before monday(the day the post office opens) if it isn't. ~Georgia.

I felt the same way about WIHH, Newfieannie.

I wrote a letter. I had to apologize for my penmanship as I never use cursive, but forced myself to for a letter.

As far as gestures go, I learned the hard way, no one can tell you if it is okay or not. That's up to you.

I want a pen pal too. I used to have one in Japan and one in Malaysia when I was a teen. It was such fun.

So if any one wants to be my pen pal, pm me. I'm 40/f, single, Christian, have dogs, cats, house bunnies, chickens, and ducks. I like to read, listen to music and audiobooks, cook and bake, garden, and do needlework (esp. counted cross stitch).
