I live in Henrico County VA (suburb of Richmond). It's more expensive within 50 mile radius of here. Job market is fair, housing market is still doing ok and the farm markets are booming! Its a great area close to everything, yet rural in many parts. I see a lot of farms for sale in the South Boston, Danville and Farmville areas. They are more depressed economically though. They are about an hour- hour an a half from Richmond.

Only from driving through. My ex-brother-in-law was a mine eng. and as such we'd visit some of the more exotic parts of the state like Lynch and Pikeville. I worked 10 years as a med. equipt. rep. and serviced IN., S. Ohio, Ky, WV, S. Virginia, and Tenn. and then back up and fill in for others when they were sick or on vacation.
