Don't let my husband read this thread, this is totally his dream!

I'm a special ed. teacher and have my master's in library, so know that I would be employable. Here are my two *biggest* concerns:

Our son would be entering high school next fall. We live in the wilds of MI, so I know how "clannish" small towns can be. Would he ever really feel welcome? He does do football, baseball, and track, as well as 4-H, so he knows how to be a joiner.

DH has hunting hounds that live in proper kennels and are fairly well behaved, but we still need enough acreage not to bother the neighbors. He's a screw machine operator, currently, but has tons of construction and factory experience.

We'll see!

Something to remember with areas like rural, eastern Montana (western Dakotas, central Nebraska, etc, etc.) is that there are more than a few kids who aren't "locals" because their folks/dad is hired on to someone's ranch.
That doesn't mean you won't see clanishness (often, it's a case of kids whose folks own the place and kids whose folks work for someone else...)
Just that there will be quite a few kids who aren't tied in to a clan.

The same is also true of areas with oil and gas drilling going on....

My questions:

Price per acre =
Average property size =
Amount of snow in winter =
Average high and low =
Pay plus benefits? =
Need for middle school math teacher? =
Will they provide gas (lol) =
Heating options for winter =
Tornado? =
How difficult is homesteading up there?

I have the degree but have never used it, I read over the application and it looks like it would be hard for me to find a position. I'm secondary English Ed.
