I have been living this way for 16 months come tomorrow.ever since i moved in here. floors, doors, plumbing.roof, insulation, jet tub, new furnace etc. this last week has been my stairway to the lower level. tomorrow will be the last day for that.after that i plan to get my kitchen floor done. then who knows? i'm like the wife of the guy who invented the gatlin gun or remmington or some such(not sure which) she was always building or renovating.sometimes doors that went nowhere. actually i do have one of those.

i have had contractors do this and i must say i am very pleased. they put down drop cloths and cover everything and they clean up after themselves every day . the floor is vacumned and all the debris is taken away every day. usually they saw out in the driveway .yesterday due to everything being covered in ice they had the saw in the den. still the same way. looks like i had cleaners in. they were wonderful boys too and i'm easy to get along with anyway. ...Georgia.

We did our last home room by room, (year by year) DH did a lot of the work himself, although we did hire, too. BUT we have family close by, & we always had access to a hot shower, somewhere! Now living in a home we built...still a few small things unfinished...for 5 years!

We would prefer to live outside the mess & inconvenience, but it can be done.

we are going to move into campers til our house is well started, and use the house at that time. our stuff will be scattered around the country and our barn packed. but, this way we are at the property so no vandals while we're not there, (not much of an issue here, but you never know) and we can get more done being ON the place. but its mighty hard to move from a house that functions to a camper! i grew up in a neverending remodel, so this isnt' new, but it does get old. as many other said tho., we really dont' have another place to go and we are saving so much money by doing this, so in our situation, whether or not we like it is irrelevant.
