Based on the car ads I saw in this morning's paper, Toyota and Honda new car prices have gone up here, especially their fuel efficient models. However, the Toyota Tundra is selling for about $3K less than it was over a year ago. Most of the other new car prices have either remained stable or gone down, with the biggest reductions coming on the domestics. Used car prices on bigger cars and trucks are down, but anything that gets good fuel economy is up.

If you do some research on the end of the great depression you'll find that they burned used cars to get them off the market. I used to have photos from an old car newspaper. It showed the stacks of cars in a large fields that they set on fire. They filled them with wood and other burnables and lit them up.

The junk yards did that to get all the wood and non metal off them so they could scrap them.
