there is a couple that live off the 180 near mp 262 that raise horses, don't know there names. I work as an auditor, usually at BA.
As for cement trucks, there is a cement company in Williams about 30 miles away. As for internet, I used my AT&T phone for awhile, and used hughesnet. A friend of mine does his internet using a smartphone through verizon.
You should bring hubby up for a visit, he may not understand that the high desert is very different than the low desert, and he may gain an appreciation for the area.

Avoid Buckeye and other cities with a "vision" that they've made law. I looked at buying land there until I read their building codes. I've seen HOA's with less restrictions! Safety is one thing. Dictating that I have to build a two car garage and that it must match my residence is quite another.

Thats a nice area, when I moved to AZ Wilcox is where I took my written test for a AZ drivers license. At the time I was working on a Andalusian horse farm in ElFrida. Wish I had gone to the Rex Allen Museum but I didn't. Someday when I go back there I will.

Cochise county is where we are looking too. It's perfect and if you have over 4 acres you don't need a permit to build.

Cochise county is nowhere near Buckeye BTW. Buckeye is in Maricopa county.

Yeah Cochise County is the very bottom SE corner of Arizona... Benson/Wilcox/Sierra Vista/Bisbee/Douglas/Tombstone area.

Alot of farms along that route. Have you been to Apple Annie's Orchard? Or gone to see "The Thing"?

We live apple Annie's ! Take care to to go to far south or you have to deal with border patrol stops and searches on your property.

My mistake. For some reason I thought Cochise was the county right next to Maricopa county.

Find a copy of the book "Homesteading on $5000". All about a guy that bought a used travel trailer and lived on the plains of Eastern Colorado year round. Installed a small wood stove, cistern underground for his water supply, dug a septic system. Pictures and diagrams of the project. Will answer a lot of questions and give you some ideas maybe you haven't thought of. Its a paperback book I read over twenty years ago. Good luck.
