I grew up in Central California.

My mother and siblings all live there still.

I spent a career moving around, East coast, West coast, Europe a few times. We invited them to come visit us, after 25 years, none of them has ever left California. Not even to visit, not to tour Paris [it was offered], not to tour Rome [it was offered], and not to tour Egypt.

They spend 5 months every year without seeing the sky, only overcast or fog.

And can not understand why I settled in Maine.

Too bad.

I like seeing the sky.

I like mild summers, I like winters.

I like green forests with no forest fires.

I am a native of Los Angeles and you all are participating in some mighty generalizations which do not apply to all of the millions of people who are from SoCal.

Actually, I don't think anything I've said generalizes SoCal except to say they are good people I honestly hope my comments didn't offend.

Would it be an unfair generalization to suggest that southern Californians seem to like to BBQ just about everything they eat?

Maria, you did not offend! It's the "arrogant" remarks and such that just aren't true of everyone.

Only Texans truly know BBQ. Californians grill. There's a difference.

ummm, speaking of generalizations, theres a fair amount of folks here in ky that grasp the concept of a good barbecue too. i do more grilling than bbqing but theres plenty of good bbq in the area just the same.
